I didn’t want to hijack the other thread, but here’s a spinoff.
Those of you in any computer or technology related field, what is your job like?
What did you go to school for/degree/major/minor?
What was your first job/pay?
What is your job now/responsibilities/pay?
I have a major in Management and am finishing a minor in IT and will be graduating in Aug 08 (I have to do an internship component this summer).
I have experience with programming (SCHEME, Java, HTML, CGI (some perl and PHP)), as well as running a webserver (Apache, with PHP and MySQL), and some familiarity with using Unix to do so.
I am also in a networking class where we are pretty much learning everything from the OSI model to administration in Windows/Linux servers.
My only problem is: I don’t know what area I want to go in! I am hoping my internship will tell me this, but I would also like to hear input from others.
