Yes, I understand you have comprehension problems. That’s why you support arab terrorists.
Shorty I actually have a small list of villages/towns you could go to and tell the extremists how much you love them and sympathize with them. Let me know if you are interested granted your visit will be very short.

Are you a transsexual?

Yes and I’ve got a few neighborhoods were you and your mates can go Arab hunting, we’ll see how that works out for you.
I get the feeling half of you guys are just arguing here for the sake of it and don’t actually have anything of value to say.

It was a real question. There seems to be a histrionic nature to your posts. I’ve wondered the same about another poster, Legionary. You both have a flair for the dramatic. Tends to be a more feminine trait, or homosexual.

Sigh, the irony of you calling someone else a bozo is strong.

The Nation of Israel is new. It has not traditionally been a strong influence on that region. Have the Jewish people done great things? Of course they have. But they would have done those things with or without having a nation to call their own.

Let’s be honest here, if it weren’t for the British there wouldn’t be a modern state of Israel.

This may come as a surprise but I am a big supporter of Israel, I applaud the way they deal with even the smallest amount of aggression. I am sure the guy in the car in that video got exactly what he deserved.

For some reason history got all twisted and Israel became this bully state that is constantly messing with their “peaceful” Arab and Persian neighbors. We seem to forget that Israel is this geographically, politically and religiously isolated state that just happens to be surrounded by nations that want to see them vanish from the face of the earth.

I often hear people say that Israel “overreacts”, but seriously wouldn’t you? You are a people that have been hunted to near extinction for like 2000 years, and less than 70 years ago someone killed 2/3rds of the Jews in Europe, this may make you a bit pro-active in terms of defense, but it’s warranted.
Israel is our only “real” ally in the area, without them I am not sure what purpose the middle east has.

Of course the Middle Eastern oil fields are important.

But Israel is the ONLY friendly, rational country in the area as well as being the hub of the entire region. And always has been since the beginning of recorded history.

Why is this so difficult for you, James? Why?

The area known as Israel today, as well as the area known as ancient Israel, has been the hub of entire region since recorded history began. If you are simply too stupid to understand this you are indeed too stupid to participate in this thread.

No nation has inhabited this area longer than Hebrews/Jews/Israelis. None. It was a nation state for almost 1500 years before being destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. and then was relegated to essentially a nomadic tribal area under the Roman and later Ottoman Empire until the 20th century.

How can you not exist as a country yet still be the single stable force in the region? Your reasoning just doesn’t make any sense at all.

I would also argue that Turkey in its various forms has been much more stable and less devisive than Israel has been but that isn’t totally relevant to this discussion.

Turkey has also been a great friend in that region and has typically supported us. I’ve trained with their military and they were very professional and seemed to like Americans pretty well. The general public also seemed very friendly but this was a handful of years ago and my visit was only for a month so it might not have been a great sample. I’m not sure why we tend to ignore Turkey and their usefulness to us as a powerful ally in that region.
I looked through your posts and you are operating under the misunderstanding about Turkey’s recent hostility to the USA is caused by Israel.

This is false. In fact, Turkey, and, more particularly, the Ottoman Empire (with some noteable exceptions) was, on balance, a good friend of Israel, and, in fact, one of the major proponents of recent (by which I mean, post 1800) Zionism.

It actually dates back to the early 1800s, when the area of the middle east where Israel is was part of the Ottoman Empire. Back then, Israel was basically empty land, but for Jerusalem, which was held down by Hasidic Jews (who never left) and various Orthodox/Catholic sects holding down the various Christian shrines. (The mosque on the Temple Mount was more-or-less in dis-repair and unuses – it was not considered significant in Islam until the 1960s, and then for political, not religious, reasons.)

Anyways, the Ottoman Empire actively courted Jewish settlors and sold the land that is now Israel to various Zionist groups, with the idea being a Jewish state within the greater Ottoman Empire.

Idea was the land was empty, not making any money, and the Jewish immigrants would bring life to a useless part of the empire.

Various wars intervened (esp. WWI) and these plans fell apart together with the Empire.

Anyways, Turkey remained relatively friendly, with active trade and military co-operation until the last couple of years. I trained with Turkish soldiers, for example. Israel sold lots of weapons (missles, drones, improvements to their F16s, etc)to Turkey.

What happened to make Turkey hostile is misguided pressure by the USA (esp. George Bush II) and the EU for democractic reforms in Turkey. The Turkish military and ruling parties warned that Islamists would take over.

Well, the EU and USA ignored the advice of the Turkish military, et al, and the Islamists are taking over, just like they did in Iran in 1976 and Eqypt in 2012 and everywhere else this stupidity is tried.

Well, the Islamist are hostile to the USA because the USA is Western. They are hostile to Israel because the Quran says to kill and butcher Jews, and they are fundamentalist who take the Quran literally.

Has nothing to do with Israel, except we refuse to die.

I suspect TTR is playing with your lack of knowledge of military slang.

He served in Afganistan and Iraq. These are Persian/Pashtun peoples.

During the early part of the wars, foreign Islamists flooded the areas to fight the USA, drawn heavily from arab countries.

The USA troops would this look for “arabs” — foreigners — who didn’t belong in these Persian/Pashtun countries because they were almost inevitably terrorists.

Hence, they went “arab hunting” — and the arabs were pointed out by locals who didn’t want them around.

That’s fair and I hope that I wasn’t coming across as saying that I thought that any of those events were caused by Israel. We most definitely mishandled that relationship. I honestly don’t know why we pushed for what we did in Turkey because they were doing really well with the government that they had. I didn’t notice any oppression when I was there and people seemed really happy. I too trained with the Turkish military (1st Commando out of Kayseri) and found them especially professional. What really struck me the most about that country was just how moderate they were and how “western” everyone was.

In some aspects it reminds me of Afghanistan in the 50’s from the pictures that I’ve seen of it.

And I sincerely hope that you don’t think that I’m anti-Israel by any means because I’m not.
