That Talon seems like a pretty large vehicle to only be a V4 eh? You sure it’s that fast?
Only V4 car I’ve been in that I’ve been really impressed with speed/acceleration is a mini-cooper.
Uhhh v4? lol
Talon is turbo i4, AWD. Lots of potential.
I’m a v8 fan myself though.
The day I lose to a Talon is the day I sell my Cobra. O.o
What year Cobra? I want a Terminator (03/04) w/ solid axle swap so bad…But I’m trying to be smart and hold off until I am established in a good career and have a house. I could buy one now, but my 02 GT will have to hold me over for now.
'98 cobras were the shit!! MY cousin dropped a 90o supercharged V-8, cast-iron block, alum head engine (lightning engine) in one. Lets just say that it was nasty. similar swap to this lightning-mustang - YouTube

Haha I know, I was just kidding. I recognize a good car for what it is! Even if it’s (gasp) an import. But it’s all about American Muscle.
Agreed.
Live - if you really like the 90s jap sports cars maybe look into a 240sx and get a sr20det swap? My buddy been looking into doing this and supposedly the engine+tranny is cheap as hell…just need a reliable shop to do the swap.
Yes they do, just not in a Talon. Honda and Yamaha have both put them on bikes, and I know Yamaha also had an outboard 2 stroke V4. Some cars in Europe also have them.

Or get a Supra, those bastards are badass. I heard they’re recognized by the American Muscle Association as well.
I’m gonna go ahead and list some more virtues of the Talon AWD over your big powerful RWD v8’s. This will be his only car and he lives in boston, that means snow, that means he can’t drive a powerful RWD v8 for 4-6 months out of the year, I put Nokkian all seasons on my last talon and besides looking like bear claws which was cool, they grip the road like nothing I have ever seen.
AWD especially with the stick, and he will never slip or get stuck in the talon. The only problem he would ever have in that car would be getting hung up on a drift or something. But he would never be able to drive any of the other cars you are all suggesting in winter conditions.
A complete stock talon TSI isn’t amazingly fast. And yes a stock V8 would probably own it. But with a few simple bolt on parts, you really increase the power of the turbo. Basically, you need to feed it as much cool air as you can so you pipe an intake scoop down to the nose of the car.
Then you just gotta make room for the air to get out and you have one seriously fast car. If you know how to do it, you could complete those mods for 1000 bucks approx. Now once you do this you need to consider other things like bigger brakes, stronger suspension better tires etc. But the car can easily be made to be very fast.
Also the link I posted to him looks like that car is in real good condition, it’s black which is the only color talon I would ever buy, and it’s in his area. Hell I am tempted to buy it. LOL

Eh, not entirely true. I live in Toronto, we get a lot of snow as well. This Camaro is the only car I got and it’s gonna be driven all winter long. My friend has a 91 Camaro that he drove through two Toronto winters in a row and never got stuck once. There’s a guy who lives near me, who drives an NSX all year long, snow, rain, doesn’t matter. You can drive almost any car in the winter if you’re smart enough. However, that shit ain’t easy, and having an AWD car is surely a lot easier to handle. Just don’t say you can’t do it, there are a lot of people out there who can only afford to have one car, and they’ll get the one they want. There’s plenty of people out there who take muscle cars out all winter.
Edit: But for people who do take the RWD cars out, all have to weigh down the rear (esp F-Bodies) and get a damn good pair of winter tires.
I totally spaced on his snowing issue…I wont comment on it because I live in SoCal and have my whole life. So I have zero snow driving experience. Though I think if I lived somewhere that it snowed all the time I’d prob be driving a WRX or something.
snow drifting is fun or insanely scary depending on if it was on purpose or not.
i dont think im going to buy either cars honestly but i may keep a talon in mind.
idk why u guys think i need a car that goes 200 mph im not a street racer. i want a car that has some balls but thats it.
someday when i can really afford it i do want a nice muscle car. a GTO (greatest of all time) or a Cuda, Challenger, dont care too much but trust me i LOVE muscle cars. but they’re not daily drivers in this climate unless you want the salt to destroy the whole underbody.

Maybe look into a Subaru WRX or something then? Perfect car for that kind of climate/area, they look nice, have some balls, fun to drive, etc…I know a few people that have them and they love them. Don’t know what your price range is though…I think you can get the bug eye style ones (around 01-02 I think) in the low teens.

I can second the WRX, Have driven one but never owned. The only problem I ever had with them is they can be a little bit pricey. Every one I have ever like was well out of my price range. I usually don’t (read never) have spent ove 10K on a car. I have owned a nissan sentra, 2 eagle talons, a volkswagon Jetta, An audi A4 (old), a satrun LS1, And now driving a saturn Ion.
