I was on a business trip yesterday and I picked up a copy of a fitness mag to kill time inbetween flights. I came across a new supplement advertised in the rag (I mean mag). It was called Endothil. Its supposed to prevent muscle damage and thereby increase muscle growth (sounds like HMB).
Here is where it gets good, the 6-week independant study of weight trained men showed a 100% increase in bench press, a 250% increase in leg press. WOW! That would mean in only 6 short weeks I could bench press 600lbs. and squat nearly a half-ton.
The 100% increase in bench press was actually 100% more than the control group. The control group only added 5lbs. to their bench in 6 weeks, so the Endothil group added a whopping 10lbs. to their bench in 6 weeks. Same for the leg press. The 250% was actually a 70lb. increase versus the 20lb. increase of the control group.
It gets better though, the study said the Endothil users increased their upper arm measurement four-fold over the control group. The study goes on to say that the control group’s upper arm increase was, in their exact words, “practically non-existant.” The increase was .03%. That means if you have a 15" upper arm measurement your four-fold increase would amount to a little over 1/8 of a inch.
Oh and did I mention that the study also said that there was zero change in bodyfat percentage, lean body weight. This is baffling. Nobody, in either group made any changes to their weight or body composition. Sounds like a waste of 6 weeks and $135 to me.
After 6 weeks and $135 I’d like to see better gains than 10lbs. on my bench and a “practically non-existant” increase of my arm size. You could make better gains with $5 worth of creatine bodyweight exercises.
This site is like a safe haven for supplement users because everything they have stinkin’ works, and costs less than garbage like Endothil.
What really is a joke about this is some newbie will join the forums and ask (if they haven’t already) “Dude, I heard Endothil is like Decca. Will my nuts shrink if I use this? I’m thinking about putting on 20lbs. by next week, and I heard this stuff is the ticket. Any ideas on how I should take this? My friend has been mixing it in a shake with dessicated liver tabs and gamma orazynol and he said his biceps have grown 1/8 of an inch like overnight. Also, would HIT training be beneficial with Endothil and how could I adapt my squat rack curl routine to this program?”
