Is It Safe to Do Upright Rows This Way?

As long as you use a wider than shoulder width grip and only row up to about your nipple area you should be fine.
Alright so apparently my link got deleted, but just google “Charles Glass upright row” and you see what I mean.

I used to do upright rows and always had shoulder problems, I excluded them from my routine and havent had a shoulder problem since.

what do you think about the way it’s done in the video i posted?

Not too crazy about it honestly, still the same risky ROM as a close grip upright row with a barbell.

Your basically describing how I’m doing the movement. Like I said I lifted it yesterday for 175 for reps, and I have wide shoulders and no wrist or shoulder pain due to the movement. Why do I feel like I’m repeating myself?
How dont people respect this?!

lmao…what were you possibly thinking?

SOLID KHALID WANTS THE HULK TO GET ON HIS LEVEL!!!

Ya know, if you actually added some muscle and looked less like a chubby kid in his younger brother’s t-shirt with no more than 2 months of gym time, that video might look less ridiculous…I mean, attract fewer “jealous haters”.

And no, I’m not on GH.
If they bother you, then just don’t them. There are better exercises.

Ya know, if your opinion was actually worth anything, your post might’ve meant something. Still waiting on your bodybuilding textbook as well as your pics/videos.

What is this. I don’t even.

I count them, along with bench pressing incorrectly for years, as among the foremost things that have destroyed my shoulders.

Just empirical evidence, do with it what you will.

As one previous poster said, there’s nothing that they do for you that can’t be accomplished - if not more safely- certainly more efficiently with other exercises.

sigh judging by the video, you need to spend a year or two on the beginner’s forum before thinking about bodybuilding, seriously. Don’t be another “xcelticx” on these forums, kid.

I won’t carry on since you clearly find this uncomfortable. But when you actually “look” as swole as you think you are (lol), you’ll be moving some real weight, and you won’t be crapping your insides out to try and yank your hair towards the pullup bar. And - you’ll look more like “solid” khalid rather than Rajesh Koothrapali on a diet of Dunkin Donuts.

We could use some photos uploaded from you also.

Is wide upright rows done far away style more on the front delts or is it still the medial delts mostly? or traps?

I haven’t tried them but I would think the front delts will tire too quickly to optimaly stimulate the traps. Thats why I suggested lying face down on an incline bench to do these. It would keep the angle of force on the shoulders the same without exhausting the front delts.

Intressting variation, so it’s a incline upright row? how high should the incline be?

68.34 degrees…

I reckon pretty high. Otherwise it becomes a horizontal row. I think a little trial and error is needed. Essentially as close to vertical as possible without causing discomfort.

if that wasnt the gayest video ive ever seen

LOL @ that video. I would DEFINITELY not put footage like that of myself up on youtube, unless I was mocking myself for the lulz.
