Is 30+ Sets OK? Or 40+ Sets?

Do you do everything to failure?

Yes, is that bad? no offence

Ayi yi yi…

I shouldn’t have gone to failure should I?

Should I do cardio because I haven’t gone to gym? I don’t know if it seems like a good idea.

You are overthinking this way too much. At this stage, you just need to consistently get the work in.

You can’t go wrong with Waterbury:

It’s not a good idea to go to failure on every set especially on 30+ sets. Intensification techniques are awesome, but should be used sparingly.

It won’t hurt you.

the answer to ALL OF THIS is very simple.

You are not a person who is capable of making training and eating decisions for himself. The sooner you recognize this, the better.

You are also not a person who is in a position to be participating in weight lifting forums. You SHOULD be reading articles, and doing EXACTLY what you are told. You should pick a program that is directed at the goals you’re interested in achieving, and follow it as closely as you possibly can. If you miss a detail here and there, it is not a big deal. You don’t need to ask about what to do if you miss a few sets. You don’t need to ask people what to do if you miss a day in the gym. You don’t need to ask about how to adjust calories on a particular day if something goes awry.

What you’re doing is putting too much stock in things that will never, ever, actually matter. The best thing you can do for yourself is follow a program written by a reputable trainer. The popular youtube characters like Rich Piana, Jason Blaha, Scooby, the Hodge twins, etc, are SHITTY resources. Get off youtube. Get off forums. And start putting in hard work at the gym and in the kitchen.

IF you still feel compelled to ask questions, here are some examples of good questions to ask:

  1. What program is out there that would be suitable to my goals and available equipment? (then you would tell us what you have available and what your goals are)

or

  1. Here are my goals. What program do you recommend?

  2. Who are some reputable trainers as far as my goals are concerned? I’m having trouble sorting through all the advice out there.

  3. Please give me a basic nutrition protocol that will help me achieve my goals. Here is what a typical day of food and drink looks like for me (include EVERYTHING, even water). How should my macronutrient breakdown look? Any particular foods to avoid or make sure I include?

If you take the above approach, you will be far more likely to achieve your goals than if you proceed as you currently are. I hope you take this to heart. You’re so far off from where you need to be mentally, and getting mentally ‘right’ is absolutely essential to success.
