Genuinely a fear I’ve had and still sometimes let get the best of me, is adjusting something that’s working, for a fear it’s not ‘optimal’. Not really program hopping, but kind of giving things 4-6 weeks, when had I not tweaked things after that I could have benefited from ANOTHER 4-6, maybe 12 weeks.
I know it’s silly, and if someone else asks I’ll tell them to keep doing whatever is working until it stops. But for myself, I’m always tweaking things and wondering if what I’m doing can be improved.
I remember hearing the saying “There are only so many bends in a back.” Like you should save them up. Every time you bend over, you’re just one bend closer to a chronic back pain.

I hear a lot of women with the fear of getting too bulky. As EyeDentist mentioned, I guess they imagine that they will wake up one morning and be irreversibly masculine. They’ve seen pictures of women who have clearly, to my eyes, been “enhanced” by anabolic steroids. I think this is really changing though, because there are now A LOT of young women training in my gym.

Hey Brickhead,
Sorry for not replying to your question about my lifting numbers a few days ago. Can you please go back to that thread? I replied to your question there. Thank you.

The only irrational fear , well kind of irrational, is after all the time effort energy pain
Etc I’ve given to lifting is one day I’ll wake and have no interest in lifting anymore. I

This happened to me temporarily a few years ago, as some here know. I didn’t lift consistently or seriously for nearly two years.

What if someone comes to close during lateral raises and I bash their skull with a dumbbell?
…Oh wait, that actually happened once.
(X2 on the “what if I miss my protein after a workout”. The fear is real.)[/quote]
Once on a max clean and press attempt somebody walked next to me as I was dipping for my push press. I was half a second away from breaking this guys jaw
What if i miss my protein is a legit fear of mine even though i know it’s somewhat irrational. I’ve gotten in trouble at work before for taking too long of a break just to keep my timing perfect for a shake and a meal.

Indeed. I’m sorry to say but women seem to say this one more than men.
It would be like quitting your job so you don’t accidentally become a millionaire.

Where is this magical gym with a lot of young women? lol
But most girls I’ve talked to about working out, have a huge fear of not doing cardio every day. They think they’ll get fat if they stop even for a day.
