Looks good to me. Only thing I’d add is breathing into your belly. Your shoulders rise as you inhale, so you’re leaving room on the table in terms of air going into your midsection.
You didn’t have the 75kg in you when you squatted last time, today you did. Man, next time you’re gonna hit that 77.5.
Don’t doubt yourself, think of things that weight 2.5kgs, a small cat? Is that going to stop you? Hell no.
I just have the pre lift ritual for squat everytime that involves the taking the air in and trying to be tight. I still have to remember to keep my back tight though as I can be a bit lazy with that. I can’t really think of any cues off the tip of my head though. Next time I squat I will try to pay more attention!
@MarkKO thanks mate. I’m sure I used to fill my belly more but lately with the high rep squats, my posture has been falling forward and putting my lower back under load. Breathing up higher has been helping with that and it is obviously crossing over to my low rep stuff. I will be mindful of it next time.
@simo74 fuck! The smoke and mirrors didn’t work ![]()
@danteism hmm I’ll give it a go! 75kg nearly got me is all I’m saying. Haha
Those squats looked nice Irish.
If you weigh 80 - 80 on the bar for the 20 repper. It’s the last one, you’ve trained it a lot, and I’ll bet you could do it.
Saturday 21st April
Simple But Brutal Last Session!
DB Incline Bench Press 350 method
Back Squat 2 x 95kg
20 rep squats 77.5kg PR
Chin-ups superset Dips 10x5 (10x5)
Band Pull-aparts and dislocates between squat warm-ups.
Fuck yeah finished the program! My 1st program I have done from start to finish without changing anything major on it. I weighed in today at 77.7kg after a Subway sandwich so I did the 20 reps with 77.5kg. I believe it was a bit less grindy than with the 75kg on the back, but I probably just got some motivation from the recording.
It looks like I psych myself out on the high rep squats on the 1st few reps. My knees come forward a bit as I come out of the groove. They settle down a bit (except rep 9) and I push through to the end with some slow reps from 17 onward.
Very happy with the progress and it’s time for a sort of deload week with no back squatting and doing some deadlifts and OH pressing to warm up those movement patterns again.
solid!!
Fkn good job Irish they all looked good. I rekon you have 80kg in you for sure.
Well done Irish.
Solid from start to finish. GREAT ![]()
They looked good. Didn’t take long either.
Told ya you’d have it ![]()
But really, nice work man!
awesome!!
Hell yeah man! Awesome job!!!
Reps 14-17 your set-up got really good focused and polished. I could see you going through the cues step by step. Impressive!
Thanks for the encouraging words lads. I believe I could continue this program for a little bit longer and be able to get the 80kg but I’m glad to be changing it up honestly. It really was as much a mental challenge than anything else and I feel I will benefit from a change. Also the program done exactly what I wanted it to do.
What are you going to do now?
I’m just going to have some fun this week in the gym. I will start a hypertrophy based program starting next week. I want a 4 day split. Prob upper, lower, upper, lower. I’ve been reading a few on this site bit I’m not really sold on any yet.
How about fortitude training?
It’s 4 days a week, 2 days full body, upper day and lower day or 4 days full body
I really like it, it’s very customizable and it has some elements from DC.
The book is about 20 bucks, you can find it just by googling “fortitude training”, and you can buy it on Scott Stevenson’s website. It does include a bit more than just a program, and the program itself is explained in depth.
@Frank_C is on a CT program from CT personal site called Simple, guaranteed strength and size, put those word in google and you’ll find it.
have a look, If and when I get tired of Jims work that one is what I would like to do.
Thanks for the suggestion, will look into that. I was also looking at DoggCrapp training. One day I will run it, not sure if that is right now.
@mortdk I do like a lot of CT’s stuff but I have never run any of it. I’ll have to check it out. Cheers mate.
