Iran: In Trump's Crosshairs

How soon before it’s the US to the rescue?

I’m not seeing the connection, @doogie.

5, 4, 3, 2…

see loppar’s post above. With Trump distracted/perceived as wounded, Iran will get brave.

Well this happened:

https://news.yahoo.com/leader-irans-elite-quds-force-killed-airstrike-reports-015900795.html

Soleimani was a revered figure in Iran and universally acclaimed by all Iranians. Even the pro-Western types who hate the Revolutionary Guard for their intrinsic violent hatred against women loved Soleimani with a “yeah but” because of his military successes against ISIS.

His pictures are everywhere - from restaurants and barber shops to car winshields. He was talked of as the next president.

Trump just made him a martyr at the time when regime was losing popularity due to an overall economic collapse and unified all Iranians.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that he was pathologically hated by the Saudis for having defeated ISIS in Iraq. Iranians are losing their shit on social media right now.

So what’s the timeline here? He was already dead during the embassy attack right? Why are the Iranians acknowledging his death now? Because Trump did? Or was he killed later?

Maybe the timing of his death was a little off…but wasn’t this guy responsible for countless American & Coalition deaths in Iraq? Wasn’t this guy the equivalent of a head terrorist? And as far as killing an Iranian General goes, didn’t Iran torture and kill a US General in Lebanon in the 1980’s? Screw this guy. He’s no better than Bin Laden & Baghdadi in my eyes.

Nope, he was killed overnight.

In the meantime al-Sadr ordered “total mobilization” of his militia and the Iraqi parliament will vote on a motion to expell US troops from the country.

Fun times.

EDIT: The POTUS is doing everything possible to piss off every Iranian alive, including die hard opponents of the regime. One of the foundations of Persian culture is martial prowess and they take great pride in their military exploits, unlike the Arabs of the Arabian peninsula.

I agree with this and I have background experience dealing with Iranian intelligence while I was in Iraq. This is serious. Add some extra awareness to you and your family’s movements. I am reposting Krav’ s circle of awareness again.

I’m a bit biased having been blown up by an (not so “I”) ED supplied by this guy – he specialized in the supply of complex, very industrial, weapons specifically designed to blow up armored vehicles. These weren’t kitchen sink explosives. They used high powered, professionally-made, explosives and devices, only available from state actors (or giant chemical corporations).

I am quite happy he is dead.

As for the naysayers, what, the Iranian regime is going to plot our destruction? You mean like it was doing already?

The whole pearl-clutching pussies who wring their hands and worry that Iran is going to retaliate, don’t get it. The Iranians were already doing everything they can to get us. You can’t appease them. You can’t antagonize them. They are already set on war and destruction.

You either have your boot on their neck, or they are at your throat.

Fuck that guy. World is a better place with him in pieces. Absolutely right move to take him out.

That said, I can see an increase in terror attacks from Iranian backed terror cells being an expected outcome. I doubt they’d attack American soil, but embassies, hotels, resorts, etc seem likely targets.

Nope. US or Saudi military targets in the Middle East, much like the Beirut bombings in 1982.

Persian martial culture demands that they show they’re not like the desert Arabs. One of the aspects of the Soleimani assassination that infuriated Iranians is the cultural affront - that their general was treated as a non-state actor to be taken out at will.

ROFLMAO.

I work with an Iranian national who is still legally a citizen there. She was laughing as she showed me the drone strike video this morning.

Universally acclaimed is DEFINITELY a reach, from my very small sample size

Based on the sample size of the 50+ people I know in the country and have worked with, everyone respected Soleimani for his generalship in Iraq.

The Revolutionary Guard are basically a bunch of sexually repressed rednecks who hate women - especially smart/attractive women so that doesn’t surprise me.

If this is the standard then we should have bombed Saudi Arabia years ago. They kill Americans on 9/11 and we invade Afghanistan and Iraq.

Twitter is banned in Iran, despite current and former regime figures having very active accounts.

You mean brought them the sweet freedom they longed for and then we took off and these nations have flourished as a result of our invasion.

Things went so well Afghanistan became the 51st state
