Actually, if you took the time to consider it this is an illustration of exactly the type of thing fourthruffian was talking about. You don’t get to hide casualties easily. And these aren’t even serious things… Concussion like symptoms happen literally ALL the time in sports.
The spokesperson said “we will continue evaluating service members for potential injuries”. Some guy gets his arm blown off or a shrapnel wound, you don’t say “we’re evaluating them for potential injuries”. They get a damn medic!
And I absolutely hate you for making me defend Trump, but concussion like symptoms can often take time to develop, which means in an after action report they’re not going to be seeing these as “casualties” because the symptoms haven’t appeared yet. So it could be completely legitimate that Trump wasn’t hiding anything.
Yeah, having to send a whole bunch of troops to another country for medical treatment is no big deal at all.
If you were in a missile attack and you got a concussion, do you really think that nothing else was injured other than your brain? Last I checked they don’t wear football helmets while hanging around on a military base.
The thing is that if they immediately admitted that a whole bunch of soldiers were injured, which is the very least of what may have happened, Iran claims to have killed around 80 and they have more credibility than the US right now, then Trump is stuck in a bad situation. Either he has to retaliate as he threatened before Iran attacked, which could potentially lead to a full scale war, or back down and look like a complete fool to everyone.
Right now he looks like a complete fool to me, but obviously this approach to the situation worked quite well because people like you guys are swallowing anything the media gives you. If he had immediately said that there were numerous injuries but nobody died (which is the current story) but he was going to let it slide, how would you feel about that?

It’s not big news anymore, WW3 may have been averted or delayed. People can forget it now. I would expect that it gets harder and harder with time to keep a lie like that going, with less and less benefit.
