^^I’ve dropped mine and broke the screen before. Found a guy on craigslist who replaced it for $40… not a bad deal

So they force you to buy a/the new phone instead of just continually updating your software.

thats what i figured i was hoping maybe there was a legitimate reason which would make me less mad apparently not lol.

so i downloaded the new system for my 3g and thought it was gonna be super cool well its ghey. i cant do multitasking you have to have a 3gs or the new 4g to be able to multitask. that was the only damn thing i was looking forward to. I dont know what the reasoning is why the 3g doesnt get it do any of you know? I just bought the phone in feb and decided to save 100 bucks but i would have dropped it if i knew this was the case. im pissed. [/quote]
I’ve got a 3Gs, it STILL doesn’t do any multi-tasking because none of the software supports it yet.
I’ve been underwhelmed at every turn by Apple and my iPhone.
And here we have the foundation for the future success of the iAds platform:
So Long Privacy: Apple Bans Apps, Music for Customers Who Opt Out of Tracking
http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=18805
"The news that Apple would be collecting the “precise” “real-time geographic location” of its users’ iPhones, iPads and computers was announced this week via the rollout of the company’s new privacy policy.
Customers have the “option” to opt in, but Apple is reportedly punishing those who decline to accept the checkbox sort of privacy agreement. According to the LA Times, “Until they agree, they cannot download anything through the [iTunes] store.”
That means no apps, music, or iBooks (from Apple) for those who opt out."
My take: Apple had to convince advertisers, developers that they could strong arm iPhone and iPad users into exposing themselves to advertisements…that’s how Apple will get so many people (not iPhone users) onboard with the idea of iAds, and that’s how iAds will prevail over AdMob/Google.
iPhone 4 Order Security Breach Exposes Personal Information
“This is how it happens: A customer tries to log into their AT&T account to order a new iPhone 4 upgrade. Despite entering their username and password, the AT&T system would take them to another user account. This gives access to all kinds of private information about the mistaken customer: Addresses, phone calls, and bills, along with the rest of private information, becomes exposed[…]”
It’s a Gizmodo story (the news site that Apple wants to destroy for buying the iPhone 4 prototype), but still…
Apple will eventually make Microsoft and Google seem altruistic non-profits.
I’ll wait until it can be jailbroken.

I jailbroke my 3G on iOS 4.0 yesterday, it works a treat! Here’s where to get Redsn0w, it’s dead simple to do:
The 4.0 upgrade isn’t anything special - folders, unified mailbox, wallpapers and “multitasking”.
Wallpapers and multitasking don’t work on anything less than a 3GS (officially) but jailbroken they do. I can understand leaving multitasking off the 3G as it slows down quite a bit after 4 or more apps are running in the background.
Not a chance am I getting the new one, I’m holding off for something better that isn’t Apple.
And with the new iPhone 4, 2 problems are already emerging:
Yellow spots and the new antenna losing signal when you hold the phone a certain way.

Some scary stuff there Ponce.
I think you may very well be right though, it doesn’t look good. Steve Jobs has become “The Man”, and I’ll fight him every step of the way, lol.
im having no problems yet, shit is awesome, but we will see.

BUMP Cause the new iphone is released tomorrow… sort of?
Hey AB did you do your pre order through an apple store or an ATT store? I’m sure you heard that ATT wont be selling any Iphone4’s in their stores until the 29th and that its only first come first serve basis at the Apple stores?
The Pre Order was a good idea except they got too many pre orders and couldnt handle the volume!

pre-ordered at best buy

it’s called insurance
there are no yellow spots on my screen

I have no yellow spots and the reception on this phone has been better than the reception on my 3G. We’ll see if it stays this way but if not i’ll just return it and get a new one for free.

also wouldnt it be sweet if T-Nation/TMuscle came out with an App for iPhones/smartphones? Kinda like facebook app style or something with each new “magazine” that would load quickly? I dont really know what it would need but it would be pretty sick and I would definitely buy one for a buck or two… I’m just sayin ![]()
Glad to hear you guys dont have problems, anyone who has the spots shouldn’t worry because it’s just the glue used in the production process and the spots will disappear in a few days of usage.
I’ll just leave this here for the lulz
They had it till they bashed AT&T.
Sorry, any phone on Sprint network fails hard. You can’t even get a Sprint signal in a Sprint store

HAHA!
I love Apple’s approach to the BIG antenna problem, “Don’t hold it like that.”
My god, you pay so much money for a phone and they can’t even have the thing make calls because of the way you hold the phone? LOL!
That video was some of the funniest shit I’ve seen in months. Maybe even a year.
I played with the iPhone 4.
Hardware/Design:
Some of the nicest I’ve seen in recent memory. Truly dense feel (high quality) to it, glass and stainless steel are incredible but the thickness of the phone is awesome.
OS is very fast, so is the camera. The front camera was what I really liked: quality was fine but refresh rate was superb.
I still hate AT&T and how closed the iOS ecosystem is.
If it comes to Verizon AND is jailbroken, I might consider it.
ANd no, the Moto X will not “replace” the HTC Incredible anytime soon. If you take the XDA devs’ activity for rooting and “cooking” new ROMs as an indication of the popularity of a device, the Incredible is perhaps the most coveted Android device on the market.
The phone is still back ordered. I think it’s either the Apple lawsuit hurting HTC’s distribution or they seriously underestimated demand. People have been waiting for a month now. I got my Incredible on launch day.
Battery life sucks and you really need to tweak the system to get something decent (over 10 hours of uptime) but the depth to which you can customize shit is insane. People are writing new apps/widgets/ROMs every week almost. The customization also means it’s not a phone for the average user; even I am hesitant to root the phone, but am awaiting a more “user friendly” method, and then I’ll go for it. It’s awesome and I’m used to how Android handles things.
There are usually multiple ways to get to a point in the OS (setting, notification), which is something I appreciate, as opposed to iOS which feels more “linear” (restrictive).
Someone loaded a 3G or 3GS with Android a while back and there are YouTube videos. If they hack the iPhone 4 and load Android 2.2 (Froyo, the badass, upcoming Android version), that would be the best phone for a long time.
