Investing Advice

Hey,

I’ve got a fair chunk of money just sat in my bank account that i really wanna do something with. first thing that came to my mind was property. house prices in england are low at the moment so i want to buy a place and rent it out, and let the rent take care of the mortgage payments. however, i dont live in my home country, and wont for the forseeable, so in order to do that there’s a fair bit of red tape and one major stumbling block: i have to earn £50k a year in order to qualify for a mortgage.

that’s out of the question right now. only other way would be to go home and buy a house with the intention of living in it myself, own it for 6 months, then i could switch to renting out. im not sure if i wanna take a year or so out of mjy life to do that. plus there are a lot of other personal factors that make it more complicated.

so, im looking for other ways to invest my money. perhaps stocks and shares. anyone know much about it or where i could even get started?

just looking for a few ideas.

cheers

i dont know what the rules are on the other side of the pond - but go into a bank and ask to speak with a financial advisor.

you’re going to have to pay him for his time, so dont google beforehand and go in there demanding no load funds. you pay him for his experience and to keep an eye on your account and make recommendations.
