meanwhile in Europe …

Could you even imagine if parents read their kids the Bible, the unfair humanity of it all!
I couldn’t even read the whole thing, my face got red it pissed me off so much. So because some parents are shit, all kids should suffer? Everyone should suffer because some people can’t be adults?

No wonder those dolts took away the people’s guns. They’ve had enough revolutions against their shit government and way of life to know better.

It’s like I’ve stepped into a time machine and journeyed back to Feb 17th, 2015…

You say stop labeling people then label an entire continent. At the slightest athiestic science supporting sentence you go full nationalist and revert to saying all Europeans are this or that. Something I never do about Americans or any other people.
Might want to read their sport. I didn’t say anything remotely close to what you contend I did.

In fact I labeled specific individuals from specific places, and even left the comment open to clearly show I’m NOT saying ALL.

I’m clearly saying that, when a European posts on the boards I read, they typically have issue X. You’re claiming I said All Europeans have issue X. You’re clearly fucking wrong here.
Saying I think the OP should be careful to arm his son with scientific fact that to be quite frank, disproves many claims by religions is not an assault on your nation your culture or your personal beliefs.
No, your stumbling entrance into this tread was a asinine assumption on your part that OP wasn’t doing what YOU think is the RIGHT thing. Your shit posting is an insult to Doogie, not anything else, and to that I take exception. He’s a good man, with more life experience in his little toe than you could comprehend.

You’ve soundly insulted him, his parenting and his children, and continue to do so with each moronic reply further down the drain that is your though process.

You’re going to wake up one morning in a decade or so and think back to moments like this and realize the err of your ways. You’re a bright kid, no doubt. But it won’t be until you truly understand and accept how dumb you are that you’ll actually begin to gain knowledge.
I clearly said I was sure the OP WAS teaching his kid these things and was doing the right thing. My initial posts were just balancing out the replies by christians. Not even saying they wouldn’t allow their kids to look at the other side. I was merely stating it as no one had actually adressed it. I wasn’t implying OP was not going to do the right thing.

I really don’t get your problem with me beans but I think you pick up aggression or condescension in my posts when it really is not there. And ironically I agree with a lot of your political and even societal views, I just don’t feel like me having an atheist position should be seen as inherently bad or disrespectful which if you are honest I think atheists do get unfairly accused of in PWI.

It is basically white conservative and largely religious guys. Obviously nothing wrong with that but when someone even slightly rubs up against a sensitive topic it becomes 5 guys who all agree finding faults with the lone viewpoint.

I in general think everyone on this board is interesting and seem like respectable and decent guys, you, push, varq, norcal, sex machine, pat etc. With the exception of Varq mostly christian and very conservative. I feel some fo you guys are interpreting my genuinely good natured debating and arguing as malicious. I guarantee you it isn’t.

reading your posts is assault to everyone’s intelligence.
There are very few rules written in stone, but this is one of them: If you are insulting someone’s intelligence, do it with pristine grammar.

I’m an atheist, and I will agree with the believers in this particular thread on the subject of your tone.

You may not have realized this, but your first post in this thread was loaded with a series of negative assumptions about doogie, who is also an atheist. He started a thread asking Christians for information about Christianity. Seems simple enough to me, but you missed that mark by a wide margin.

Don’t you think an atheist who is a grown man with a 15 year-old son has already put quite a bit of thought into challenging religion? Judging from your post, it seems as though you do not. You decided that what he really needed wasn’t info on Christianity reading materials suitable for a 15 year-old, but info on all of the other, unrelated shit you wanted to talk about.

And that’s what makes these posts of yours annoying. To me, at least. Maybe doogie found them useful.

Again though dude my worry about not hearing the other side was not from an athiest dad. It is from whomever teaches him about christianity. When most state school students think the evolutionist position is that humans evolved from monkeys they don’t have much of a grasp of evolution.
My point was merely if you son wants to learn about faith let him go to church, but don’t let people with faith push anything on him and as a parent I would recommend encouraging him to read some basic books on evolution. If the OP was planning that that is awesome but he didn’t say he was so I just gave my opinion.

Stop reading into that as somehow suggesting OP is a piece of shit who wants to brainwash his son.

I don’t see how I was wrong, I said the dad should make sure to balance the views his son receives by getting him books on evolution. Hardly disrespectful, unless you regard any disbelief of monotheism as inherently disrespectful.

Also you were the one who replied in another thread that there is evidence of god, if you look. I don’t think you are exactly unbiased on this matter. I think you are simply pissed about my views on god and that I openly state them and offer advice from an atheist position.

Did you see any sentences by me where I claim OP was doing anything wrong?

Wow, just wow…

The phrases “completely oblivious” and “utterly blinded by dogma” come to mind.
countingbeans wrote:

When applied to the belief that Noah’s ark is real, the moral acceptance of god ordering ethnic cleansing in the bible and the concept of immaculate conception, those phrases might ring true.

Not when someone suggests giving his son books with scientific facts in them while also allowing a priest to make grand claims to him with no evidence for his assertions.
For someone who wants proof for claims of a political nature you sure have different ways of dealing with religious people.

That is a bias.

Much like how you are completely oblivious of how much of an asshole you come off in this thread, and the fact you continue to double down on this behavior, you are completely oblivious as to my opinions of and how I deal with organized religion and religious people.

I’m tellin’ you, Yamato, you want to thing reeeeal hard about this “move to America and buy a piece of land in a rural area” idea. How long do you think it’ll take before you go from being known as “that English guy”, to being known as “that got-damn communist atheist Euro-trash”?

Mark my words: it will happen. And all it will take is one or two comments that seem to you quite innocuous, uttered in the presence of the wrong people.

I for one would have more respect for you if you’d just eat your humble pie and move on.

It doesn’t surprise me that you plain don’t understand why multiple posters, one of which is an atheist and another that is not a Christian, has taken issue with your post.

To your question, you’ve completely and utterly missed the point. My views on God are 100% irrelevant here and I’m not pissed about your views at all. Your views on God are also irrelevant in this thread even if you fail to see why.

I’ll take Varq’s making fun of “freedumb” and the less than stellar “culture” of America, all of America, than the baseless snobbery and overvalued self worth I see out of Europeans on just about every board I read.

Sounds like you don’t know shit about being a parent. Kids cannot and do not ‘make up their own minds’. They will follow what their parents are, whatever they are until they are teenagers when they will summarily dismiss everything their parents are. Technically, all kids are brainwashed by your definition. You just prefer they be brainwashed in your slant.
And your under the false impression that science and religion are at odds. They are not. Most Christians believe the theory of evolution and in a universe that is 13.7 billion years old.
