Intestinal Issues w/ Branched Cyclic Dextrin

I’ve been having intestinal problems whenever I incorporate Highly branched cyclic dextrins into my intra workout. By problems I mean diarrhea. I did dilute the mixture significantly, but it doesn’t seem to remedy the problem.

At one point in time I thought of myself as having an iron stomach, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Would incorporating more fiber and maybe glutamine help with this issue? Is anyone else experiencing the same problems? If so, how did you solve the problem?

You might be one of those rare people who occasionally suffer from “osmotic diarrhea,” where too much water is drawn into the bowel too quickly.

You might try making your drink less dilute instead of more dilute to see what happens. True, for maximum efficiency, you’d want a more dilute solution, but in your case, you’ve got to weight the pros and cons, of course.

Ok, I’ll give that a shot and report how it goes.

I have been using a less dilute mixture that past 5 days with great success. That took care any problem my digestive tract had with the more dilute solution. I plan on doing this for the next few weeks and then go back to the recommended amount of water and see how that works. Thank you again for the advice TC, it worked like a charm.

Great to hear!

I am experiencing a similar situation. I used to use 2 scoops of Glycofuse (50g carbohydrates) in a 20oz shaker cup with no problems. Recently I’ve been using 1 scoop in 20-30 oz water and I experience gas, bloating, cramps and diarrhea.

From what I’ve been able to find, diluting helps some, whereas (in our case) concentrating is the answer in others’. Strange.
