Interpretation of the Neurotype Test Results?

Hey CT,

Did buy a neurotype test today, because I wanted to be sure that Im a type 1b, but it resulted in a 1a dominance and 1b secondary dominance.

I never had all the traits of a 1b, like godlike coordination or addiction to varation(example: can eat the same everyday if it fits my goals, but dont dislike trying new things if presented the chance). On the other hand I can show empathy for others and love sprinting/jumping (also lifting heavy or explosive). Can tolerate a lot of intense volume too(not 2hours pumping).

Thanks in advance

We’ll look at it from a neurotransmitters perspective.

The easiest one is a fairly high serotonin level. The very low Type 3 score tends to show high serotonin levels.

You are obviously dopamine-dominant because both 1A and 1B scores are high. Now, dopamine dominance could be because of very high sensitivity (1B) or because levels constantly stay high due to slow degradation (1A).

Glutamate levels seem to be moderate, but certainly not low (moderate 2B score). This would also indicate moderate GABA (if glutamate is high, GABA will be low, if glutamate is low, GABA will be high, or both can be moderate).

The high 1B score would tend to indicate high acetycholine, but it is possible that you are overestimating your physical capacities (1A do that a lot).

Honestly without knowing you or being able to assess you, this is a complex result to evaluate. There are indications that would go toward a 1A profile BUT with a higher glutamate level either due to nutritional habits or excess stress (chronic cortisol elevation can increase glutamate production) BUT there are just as many signs indicating a 1B profile, including the very low Type 3 score (type 3 score is more likely high in type 1A than 1B).

My personal gut feeling is that you are a 1B but with poor methylation or normal COMT enzyme rather than a fast COMT one. As a result, adrenaline and dopamine lingers in you longer than with a typical 1B. So you are likely a little less sensitive to these neurotransmiitters, but compensate by keeping levels slightly more elevated once released.

Thanks for the fast reply. I think Type 1B fits me better too. The only thing that doesnt fit is the ā€œnatural athleteā€ part, after years of training still not really fast or that explosive or coordinated, but that seems to be more of a genetic issue(low testo = low rate coding)

What are nutritional habits that could increase glutamate?(never had any cortisol problem) Bought the type 1B nutrition plan from your side and follow it scrictly besides eating fast carbs after training from unclean sources and general more carbs percentage wise(high activity level).

Has the sligthly less sensitivity to dopa and adrenaline any specific training consequence? Like using more volume and a little bit less frequency than normally?

You could also be a 1B with more slow twitch fibers… not usual but depending on ACTN3 type it can happen

Nah, Im fast-twitch dominant, pretty sure after doing several tests that indicate this. Nailed it down on rate coding, missing these 10% extra performance, but have no idea why(so its probably something genetic).

Anyway, appreciate you taking the time to answer and I wish you and your family a relaxing christmas/happy new year.

Then I would suggest clusters, best way to increase firing rate.
