Strength and Health (tied)
confidence
looks
addiction
All i want in life is to be healthy and strong. It makes me much more conifdent and if i look good then that’s even better. Oh i’m also addicted. It’s like a sport. I try and get better and better everytime, try to beat myself every day.
I like to think my reasons are as follows:
- Health
- Strength
- Looks
But I have to admit that while I quantify the above order as most important, I admit that the following order is just more important:
- Looks
- Health
- Strength
cupcake, the term is shrinky dink.
Strength, definitely. If any life-threatining situation comes up, for myself or others, I want to be able to do whatever is needed. Not only to lift heavy objects, but also for endurance and balance and other functions of strength.
- Health
- Strength/Energy
- Looks (dressed and undressed)
- Sports
This goes for both diet and training. The boost in confidence is great too. Although it’s more of a side effect or by-product of the top 3.
- Looks (to help me get laid-even though i’m married)
- strength
- health
Probably started for health-but once muscles started popping out priorities changed.
Interesting responses! Lets keep it going and get as many T-Men to respond as possible. Then we can add up the results and take a look.
Lifting:
- Strength
- Look Good
- Health
Eating is where I place health at …
Mage:
As I have three little girls, a “Shrinky Dink” is little plastic shapes that you cut out, color then bake and they shrink to perfect miniatures of whatever they were.
I stand by my answer, I want to see ALL of my dink when I look down, not just the last 7 inches of it…
“Don’t pay any attention to what they write about you. Just measure it in inches”

- Health
- Strength
- Overall fitness
- To look good nekid
The improved appearence and self image are a direct result of the first three, and the confidence comes from all of the above.
I’m 36 years older than my son, and 40 years older than my little girl. I feel I have an obligation to them to not be a fat lazy slob, and to stay fit so that I can actively participate in their lives and activities. I’m also determined to beat them in the sprint to the city limit sign when they’re teenagers. (My daughter can already jog a couple miles easily. She hasn’t learned to ride yet, but I’m already checking out road frames for her.)
A few years ago I was sitting on the edge of a hotel bed in my underwear, pulling on my socks. I happened to glace sideways and was shocked to see some fat dude who looked like my dad in my hotel room! What a stupid place to put a mirror anyway. I’ve been on a personal mission ever since.
Yesterday I happened to glance down as I was brushing crumbs off my pants, and for the first time I noticed that I could see my belt buckle and fly without sucking anything in. That made me happy for some reason.
After training for almost 10 years, I don’t know any other way to live. I love the intensity of a heavy lift, and creating new PRs.
Oh, I also want to be as big as a house and be able to lift one.
- Continued improvement
- Strength
- Size
- So my kid(s) will never beat me at anything.
In faith,
Sam

Beowulf67 – I definitely agree with your #1. Though that time for me is several years away (gives me more time to grow), I lean more towards a .45 and an NRA sticker.
