Stu,
You know you’re very appreciated on this site when you can start a thread like this and not get a single “cool story, broseph” or “you know, we have a thread for this sorta thing already”.
Because of that…

This thread has taken a turn for the bizarre…Who said anything about forcing the kid to get bigger than he wanted to be?
Fishdog questioned why the kid would even be in the gym in the first place if he was happy with how he looked.
Others assumed he was either a dick or trying to protect his fragile ego in the face of perceived criticism.
Perhaps the kid simply assumed that a guy who looks like a bodybuilder giving him advice on “hitting his pecs” was trying to show him a way to make them grow more?
Is that completely unreasonable for a kid to jump to that conclusion?
No. But when you plug in the kid’s response, plus the fact that the kid was using cruddy form and weights that were beyond him (and I think we can all agree that Stu can spot both, and isn’t the type to talk about gym trangressions unless they were really bad), you are left with an individual who is deliberately utilizing poor technique & excessive loads so they won’t grow.

God of internet memes and cool stories.
I think he was just annoyed at you the same way I get annoyed when guys who clearly don’t lift try to give me advice.

Stu, perhaps you could describe this “shit-eating grin” for us?
Was it in his teeth, like he he had it in his water bottle (well, I guess that would be a shit-sipping grin, actually), or was it more around the outer lips area, as though he had just spent time kissing the ass of someone who wasn’t holding a gun to his head and screaming about killing his parents if he didn’t both isolate and decimate his pecs, in that exact order?
Did it hint at a finer culinary palate? I.e., did it speak to a higher fiber content in the feeder’s diet or was it a greasy, fast food shit?
Did it stick like an organic, free range shit should, or dribble like a fecal factory shit?
Do you suppose he was annoyed that you interrupted his meal, and this might have resulted in him being uncharacteristically short with you?
Did you see any knives or forks? Chopsticks? Or was it perhaps in one of those squeeze tubes like GoGurt?
Could you ball park the macros for us?
Do you think there’s any anabolic edge to what he was doing?
Are you CERTAIN he was eating it, and not simply reverse-digesting it per South Park’s recommendation?
Could he have been using it to protect his lips from chapping in the dry cold?
How did you VERIFY its shitty-ness? Taste test or smell check?
Do you know where I could buy some?
Would you be able to describe it to police officers if it later ended up robbing the gym using a toilet paper tube as a fake gun?
What COLOR was it? Is there anything potentially racist about your interpretation of it being in his mouth and your perception of his reaction?
Have you tried it and are now able to “knock it” without being an armchair, “theoretical” shit eater?
Do you think it was part of his split?
Should I do it on a non-leg day, or would pinching it out hamper my glutes from recovering.
Are you SURE it was a kid? Could it have been Thibs working on a new pre-exhaust technique for leg day and simply didn’t know where else to put it?
Mechanical drop shits?!?!?
Did Biotest put you up to this to generate hype over a new peri-WO supp?
AnaCACA?
AnaCRAPa?
AnaconDOO-DOO?
ANALconda?
ANALCACA??? IT IT ANALCACA, STU???
Can I get a free sample?

ITT: meatheads mad about skinny people being happy with their appearance.

People need to realise that building muscle isn’t the be all and end all when it comes to life. If this kid is happy with his body, then you shouldn’t try to push your own body issues onto him. This site does sometimes remind me of a pro-anorexia site, except the opposite extreme.
I have a lot of respect for a skinny person who is comfortable and confident in their own body and i find it funny a lot of people are pissed off that this kid is happy being skinny.
… SRS? So informing someone of a form issue on an exercise counts as pushing the BBing lifestyle on them?
It’s not about the form issue is it. Look at the responses and stu’s own response. He couldn’t have cared if the kid did the standard say yes and ignore, it was only when the kid said he was happy with how he looked that stu got annoyed. People are getting annoyed at this kid for being happy with his skinny ass pecs rather than for his form issue. And getting mad at someone because they don’t follow the same goals as you is quite immature.
Also giving someone unsolicited advice is always an attempt to enforce your own opinions on them, just don’t do it unless they are in a position where they can immediately endanger themselves or others.
lol, okay guys, this thread has certainly taken a few interesting twists.
I didn’t write this to lament my bruised sense of self and how a lesser experienced, or ego driven kid should have jumped at my awesome advice and yet didn’t. Nor did I have any intention of complaining about the newbs vs the experienced guys in most gyms. I was just so surprised at the reaction that I wanted just needed to share with other like minded folks.
Believe me, I really do consciously try not to approach people in gyms, especially these days where my time is so limited. I guess it’s the fact that I spend all day helping high school kids that the inner part of me, who actually desires to share from his own experiences and mistakes makes it really difficult to stand by when I see some young kid doing the same numbskull crap that I myself was guilty of. I was very fortunate to get the knowledge and support that I did during most of my up-n-coming years. I’m sure if some big puffed up dude just came over where I was do my best efforts in the gym and informed me that he was now using my equipment, or was working in with me (as opposed to offering a small tidbit of advice with a smile), it would have quickly cemented his reputation in my mind. I’m certainly not that guy.

Way- it was much more surprised by his response, not really annoyed. I certainly bear no issues against others who don’t share my own personal goals, it was just the last possible thing I ever would have expected to hear in the situation.
