Intelligence Gap?

I can’t believe CaliLaw wrote something to the effect of admitting someone else is smart.

Wow.

I see you’re in High School, so, the road ahead is longer for you than most others - and for us oldies, it’s STILL pretty long.

I think the best lesson you can get from this thread is the one I hope you’ve already learned. Namely, the fact that EVEN intelligent people will be prepared to talk. Tap our brains. Most of us will ignore you, but a few will pipe up. Listen to them.

Secondly, don’t worry about “fitting in”, unless you’re trying to fit your cock into some nice piece of cunt. Most people your age are dickheads, and the less time you spend trying to gain acceptance, the better off you’ll be. Elitism is indeed a dirty word, but as you age, you’ll be relieved, not insulted, when accused of practicing it.

I believe there is a BIG difference between eduated and intelligent. Not all educated people are intelligent and not all intelligent people are educated. Don’t assume one is synonymous with the other.

Just wait until you get to college. I was one of the smartest kids at my high school, and I have to admit that I got used to the fact, but not once did I ever get as full of myself as the OP, yet going to college was still somewhat of a shock to me. It makes you realize that the world isn’t so small after all and there are many people that are more intelligent than you.

Just go to college, you’ll know smart people. If you really are fixated about this stuff as I was, write down the names of the people in the top 2 percentile of the admission test to the college you’re going at, and try to befriend them. That’s what I did, out of curiosity. Yeah, I was in tht 2 percent.[/quote]

This is kind of weird.

I don’t care how smart someone claims to be. Until he has mastered the ability to ad lib a limerick to fit any situation, he will be nothing.

DB

PS- I use “he” pejoratively in this case.

Imho, the more you feel you are “intelligent” than others, the more of a prick you are.

I know, I can smell my own from a mile away.

There was a young man from T-Nation,
Who suffered from mental inflation;
He said “I’m so smart,”
I’ve been set right apart,
So now here I sit mired in frustration.

WIN!

Ever since starting college, I’ve realized how little I know about the world. In a sense, it’s depressing to realize how little people actually know about the world around them but it is also the exhilirating part. The quest to obtain more knowledge and to constantly strive to understand everything. No matter, how intelligent you may be, there will always be someone out there who is more intelligent than you in one way or another. So, saying that you are above everybody else in mental capacity just really shows how ignorant you can be.

Nice.

My quotation marks are off, I notice now. I was going to try to use it in lieu of the GRE/MAT to try to get into a really top-notch doctoral program but now I’m not certain it serves to show how really smart I am.

I get like that if i’m in a long conversation. you loose interest in peoples thoughts alot, atleast i do. They say sense less things , especially kids at school.
