insurance testing

any insurance guru’s around here? specifically, i am curious as to what a typical insurance company would test for before validating a life insurance policy. logic would tell me that steroids are out. too costly and quite frankly, no evidence that they will kill you. still, i am hesitant. i dont want to start a record of any kind of testing positive to steroids.

I currently have over 380,000 of term life insurance on me through one company and I was on at the time. Don’t even worry about it. The way they rate is by asking you questions as far as your families history of illnesses etc. they rate the catagories from prime to standard to below standard. This means you will pay more depending on your rating. If you are overweight you pay more, if you have high cholesterol then you pay more. You get the picture. Because of your age you will be rated standard. It is pretty damn hard to get rated in prime health and get prime rates. Hope this helps.

Oh, some ask for permission to look into your medical records. If you ever admitted to your doctor they will know, not that they can use it against you. I seriously doubt they actually check because I actually admitted to mine and I still got insurance. I think they go more off of the bloodwork that they have the RN draw from you at the time. Just keep in mind though, you may be giving them consent to veiw your medical records.

i sold insurance in canada, in the past.

insurance policy asks you questions. based on those questions, if you answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions, then they would get you to go to a doctor for a physical or have him/her fill in an ‘extra’ questionaire on the policy.

funny story though… one of my clients (he was a bone-head), accepted life insurance with his mortgage. the question said ‘have you ever smoked?’ he filled in ‘no, but i have smoked marijuana’
-Insurance company wanted a FULL physical and medical history of this guy. he was eventually DECLINED (too much risk).

ps. i doubt they will test you for gear.

This is why I don’t tell my doctor, unfortunately. Thank you stupid laws.

i work for a very reputable insurance company and everyone here is right. all the tests they do on you will not detect steroids because those tests cost too much. if you do answer yes on the questionaires they will order an interview and records so be careful and even "fabricate " if you have to. if you have any other questions just pm me or ask on the forum.

thanks for the input guys. i will post again with the outcome. i will not tell them that i inject heavy concentrations directly into my forehead : )

Well as far as testing directly for juice, they won’t. However, if it is a good company they will do a blood test and look at all your past medical records, that is what sets the price, not family history. That being said, I have seen people get into trouble for high protein levels, actually they were declined. If you are “on” when they do the blood work, they will see test levels that are high, and that will raise a red flag. And if you have anything that you ever told your doc, they are going to see it. PM me if you have any specific questions, or what kind of policy to buy, there are lots of ways for agents to f*ck people on life insurance. Good luck
