Insulin Tolerance Test

Hey guys,

I have an Insulin Tolerance Test on this coming Monday.

I am currently on the Anabolic Diet (or should I call it lifestyle) and have been on it for the past 5 weeks.

I have no intend on changing my way of eating, so its not a “rolleyes” thread regarding me trying to lose weight.

What my question is, is will the anabolic diet (high fat, med protein, low carb) have any adverse affects on my Insulin Tolerance Test?

I’ve read some people suggest to carb up an extra day (at the moment I carb up on weekends). So it would involve eating Friday, Sat, Sun HIGH carb.

This is really important guys, please tell me some information about the Insulin Tolerance Test and whether carbs affect the results. Please don’t comment about the ‘diet’ itself and the lifestyle of it, just whether it affects it - and if its good or bad and whether I should increase my carbohydrates 3 days before the test.

Thank you!!

Well, I don’t know if I would change my eating habits right before the test. Carbing up an extra day might taint your test results. Do you mind if I ask why you are getting an Insulin Tolerance test? Are you having blood sugar issues, or is it a pre-surgery test? Perhaps another reason…

I am hypoglycemic and I’ve had to take a 3 hour glucose tolerance test before, which I believe is kind of the opposite of what you’re having done.
