Insulin Pre Workout & Alternatives?

I wondered if you guys could explain how insulin such as Humalog pre workout + peri workout nutrition is beneficial.

Also, could similar benefits be created by using Berberine/C3G/ R lipoic acid instead of Humalog?

If so, how have you guys used supplements please?

I’ve used 5-7iu humalog preworkout off and on for years. Think about it like this - insulin tells your cells to open up and bring nutrition in - hence the pumps and growth. This is an extremely basic explaination but workable.

I’ve no experience of exogenous insulin, but Berberine & R Lipoic Acid very powerfully lower my blood sugar & I often feel spaced out.

400mg of Berberine keeps my blood sugar at 4.0 mmol/L, for around 3 hours, despite what I eat.

So how do you guys get your blood sugar balance correct, so you’re neurally activated for hard training but also shuttling nutrients into the muscles?

Do I just need to do lots of experimenting with different doses of Berberine & glucose monitoring throughout?

How do you guys refine that process for your own biology, please?

In terms of peri workout nutrition at the moment I do the following:

Before kick boxing, my peri workout nutrition is as follows:

Small light solid food 4 hours before training. Around 500 calories max.

30 minutes before training - 50g glucose, 30g protein in water.

Then I sip on 50g glucose, 30g protein + electrolyte powder in 1 litre of water throughout training.

15 minutes after I stop training I refuel with solid food.
