Instant Oatmeal is the Devil

OKKKAYYY then. SO I guess Instant Oatmeal is bad now?I was reading a post that suggested to stay away from Instant Oatmeal. WHY???!!! Is it really that big of a deal? I personally don’t care and I plan on sticking to my diet. I just wish people wouldn’t give shitty advice. (No offense to whoever has posted flaring IO.)

Probably cause most types have a lot of worthless stuff in them if you are talking about the individualized packet variety. Lots of sugar and preservatives. If you are talking about plan bulk instant oatmeal, I really do not see the harm.

Read the label and decide for yourself!

Instant Oatmeal

Sugar 0!!! THat’s pretty dam good. And 4 grams of fiber to help surpass all of that chicken and protein powder.

Just take some oats and blend it into your smoothie. That way you don’t even taste them.

I wuv oatmeal… :frowning:

Are you guys throwing in rolled or steel cut oats (I take it you mean raw) into your shakes?

I tried ground steel cut oats in my shake last night, but it felt funny munching my shake as opposed to chugging it. Easy calories though which was nice.

Yeah, chewing your shake at the end isn’t too nice. And sometimes I get digestions problems. I think raw oats have lower absorbency than cooked.

If there is 100% calorie absorption eating them raw, I would definitely go raw.

Presoak your jumbo/steelcut/rolled oats in applejuice overnight. This facilitates easy, complete blending as well as easy digestion.

or you could just eat your oatmeal and be…ya know, normal?

Raw steel cut oats - soak 'em in water for less than five minutes - eat 'em.

WTF would you want instant oats for? YUCK.

If you’re going to go with rolled oats, at least get the extra thick, non-instant kind.

I just eat my 1 cup of good old Quaker Rolled Oats for breakfast with a scoop of chocolate flavored Metabolic Drive for a few extra cal’s for the morning.

Fuck oats. Eat black beans!

I’ve been making a kind of sludge with oat bran and milled golden flax. Mix in some vanilla protein powder and cinnamon and you have a tasty breakfast side dish.

I think they were probably talking about the instant oatmeal-packets. They have a ton of sugar and additives and are also more expensive. On the other hand, you can throw protein powder and stuff in your oats if you make it yourself.

Rolled or Steel Cut Oats are probably better than most packaged instant oatmeal, but if you look at the different options that different brands offer, you can find instant oatmeals that are almost has good for you as “the real thing.” Using the plain flavors of instant oatmeal (flavors…or did I mean flavor)or a company’s “light” instant oatmeal brand (like Quaker’s Weight Control) are good additions to your diet and it honestly won’t make a huge difference if they replace plain oats.

Will someone please tell me: what the point of “instant oats” and why would anyone prefer them to steel cut?

Haha sludge! I’ve been putting protein powder in pancakes a lot lately.
