InkAddict's Log

I need to start a PL federation called “LWI”, that way I could sell (bajillions) of singlets with “LWI” on the front, really large, right over the ‘package’.

In other news, this new (super kick ass) belt is giving me some funky bruises/red marks all around me.

Looks like I’ve been mauled by an enormous lobster or something.

yeah…

Then how about pix of the bruises? You know that I have a thing for them.

Very happy to hear that the squat is feeling so smooth. Nice.

Damn lobster bruises!!

Last night’s benching went kinda “meh”. I’ve concluded that benching solo is a mind fuck with me, and everything feels rediculously heavy. Next week I’m going to recruit my brother and take him to the gym with me so I can have a spotter I trust who will listen. Anyway, onto the lame-ness

Bench
135 x 10 x 2
185 x 5
225 x 1 x 3 (Usually don’t jump 40#'s, but was in a hurry.)

2board
225 x 5 x 2
235 x 5
Drop set, all for 6reps x 1
225/205/185/165/145

Dips
BW x 10/8/8

OHP
95 x 10 x 3
65 x 10
45 x 10 (Felt like a girl [no offense to anyone] but my shoulders were so blasted I couldn’t do anything heavier!)

Straight bar pressdowns
100 x 12
130 x 10
145 x 6

That was it. One thing I discovered is that there is 1 good oly bar in that joint, and it was located at the squat rack (which is usually used by curlers) so next squat session I’ll either do it there, or throw a 10# at someone and switch the bars when they’re unconcious.

Pretty sore today in my front delts and tri’s. Tonight I’ll either do a cardio/ab session or a DL/back session if I feel recovered enough from Squat Day. Whoa, got an idea here for another term to throw around…

Squats shall be done on…

SQUATERDAYS!

When lobsters attack.

The ones on the top have faded, but both sides are the same.

If I DL tonight, I’ll battle the lobster claw again. And win.

Edit: Holy shit, a hip bone! It’s been a while since I’ve seen those. I should dig up my last V-Diet pics and show what I looked like in Spring 2009 at my current weight. BIG difference…

I’ll be the first to play devil’s advocate – not crazy about Squaterdays, when is the big meet?

It’s on Squaterday.

Haha. March 27th. Just looking around online at state records and what not, and found the top raw lifter in the state with something like a 585 squat, 400+ bench, and a 750 DL. Damn. I’ll probably smoke his ass

HAHA!

Really? I was expecting much more damage from a full blown lobster attack

Can’t wait to see how the meet goes for you dude. I recently found two upcoming meets in my area that are doable. One is a push pull and one is a full meet.

Son of a bitch, I posted and it got swallowed by the internet. Damnit

Greg, it was a gigantic lobster-man hybrid that got me, not a lobster army, although I’ll be on the lookout for them!

Herc, do the full! Don’t half ass it man, give it 100% and see what happens, that’s my approach. I’m nervous/anxious/excited all at once. I don’t feel at all ready, no idea what to take as an opener on anything (probably do my last heavy day before deciding that), but shit what’s the worst that can happen? I’m entering the open class only, so I can’t be DFL…I hope!

A thought has entered my mind and I can’t shake it. Since my bench hasn’t increased in forever, but my arch has, I’m thinking maybe increasing my arch is holding me back. Does that make sense? I’ve heard/read that incline benching in a good accessory and has good carryover to flat benching because of shoulder ROM (or something), but increasing my arch makes it more like a shallow decline. Think I’ll try a lower arch and high(for me) arch next week with heavy paused singles, to make a last minute decision one way or the other.

That sound reasonable?

Just rambling and scrambling to dial it in as much as I can before game day.

Also, my tri’s are sore as fuck today. I think that killer drop set really put the finishing touches on them, ouch.

LWI!!

PS Didn’t get to DL’s last night, but planning a long session tonight with conventionals, reverse bands, regular bands, rack pulls, whatever. Just an obliteration of DL’s and upper back domination.

LWI, my ninjas.

^for lulz.

The meet is the 26th? Am I remembering correctly?

I noticed the same thing with benching and arching. Can’t seem to figure out what’s going on there, either.

Ink what portion of the bench do you fail at. Does it get glued to the chest or is it somewhere higher up?

I am highly considering these two meets because the cost isn’t too bad and they would take place when i have more time to prepare and not interrupt school. I just need to do it, but i am hampered with the “i need to get stronger first” mindset.

Dixie, mad lulz dude! haha. The meet is the 26th and 27th, but I’ll be in the 198’s which are lifting Sunday. Saturday is the wimmenz and dudes up to 181.

Racer, it’s really frustrating, and I’ll keep this log updated if I notice a difference or wtf is going on.

Herc, I don’t get stapled, but a few (3-5) inches I’d say is where I hit a wall. You think 1-2 board work would help? Never done a 1 board as it doesn’t seem like much difference but if the bar stops and starts 11.75 inches higher, it would make sense to train there as it’s a little closer than the chest but not quite at my sticking point. Maybe?

I was wavering at a point to not do this meet and wait until i got stronger, but then I decided to just go and get a total. I originally thought last year, I’d be able to almost hit 1100 total, but then all my lifts haulted and wouldn’t go up, life got in the way, training was sub-maximal, and now I’ll likely be a bit under 1000 which is discouraging to me. I just say "Hey, I’ve only been training PL for less than a year, and I’ve put about 70#s on my squat, and almost 100 on my DL (while dropping 25lbs) so WHO CARES? Do this damn meet, and then do it again next year and total OVER 9000!

Just get out and do one. Please. You’re strong as it is, and you have to set a benchmark for future meets, so set one now and then smash the hell out of it in the future!

LWI

Edit: Saw something in another post about maxes increasing and gaining weight, so thought I’d throw out that while my numbers increased, I lost a good deal of flab in the process. Damn I love lifting weights…

lol! nice.

btw, i just read that the average american eats 28 pigs in 1 year. I probably eat double that. yee-haw!

If you are getting stapled WITHIN the first 3-5 inches, hammer away at paused floor presses and high rep dumbbell flat/incline presses.

If you are getting stapled PAST 5 inches, hammer away at the 3 board press, band resisted press, and pin presses.

sounds like good advice^

Then again, wth do I know?! lol

TOTAL OVER 9000!!! love it…

Damn Masch, you probably eat 28 pigs a week!

DF, thanks dude, solid advice that I’ll take heed to!

Thanks MiM, DF seems like he knows hit shit, and can total OVER 9000! right now, so I’ll listen.

Today was an AWESOME training day. Everything felt awesome.

DL’s
135x5
225x5
275x3
315x1
365x1
405x1 (5lbs less than previous PR, BUT, like a 40lb PR for the commercial gym. I jacked the 1 good bar, snuck chalk, eveything was awesome, rep felt kinda heavy but was smooth. VID)

Reverse Band DL’s (LWI!)
405x3
425x1 (Easy)
475x1 (20lb PR! VID)

Low rack pulls weren’t happening, low back was blasted

Shrugs
225x20
275x20
315x19 (Couldn’t count #20, it was about 1/4 rep haha)

Meadows Rows
70x12
90x12
115x8 (haven’t repped over 90 before, this was BRUTAL!)

Reverse Hypers, done backwards on a back extension machine. Took this from buckeyegirl who mentioned in somewhere)
4x12

Done.

Notes: Need to move lever on my belt down 1 notch, either the belt is stretching, I’m shrinking in the middle, or both, either way, I’m dominating. Good damn day today.

405 DL (The trainer next to me kept looking over like “wtf are you doing”. Take notes, chica!)

Reverse Band DL 475

*This time I set it so there was zero pull in the bands at the top. You can see them get flimsy.

LWI!
