Dude that is a total bummer that you had to get rid of the bike. I also understand why you did as well.
The belt you got, how long did it take for them to get it to you?
Hope that the deload sets you up to rock your training in the coming weeks.
My sincere condolences on the loss of Suzy. She sure was a beauty.

Yeah chains are bad ass, though not something I’d drag to the gym to use.

Well, didn’t lift last night, due to extreme heartache. Last night I sold my bike, the bike that brought so much joy into my heart every time I cracked the throttle. Even after I laid her down in Colorado, and almost died (true story) she ran hard and strong. Due to a couple of factors, I wound up selling it and will miss that thing for a long time. I’ll get another bike someday, when my girls are more grown up and all that, and I can’t wait for that day.
But, on a lighter note, I received my brand new Inzer Forever Lever belt a few minutes ago, and can’t wait to set it up to blast some PR’s. This thing’s easily twice as thick as the BB style belt I’ve used recently, so it’ll be a lot more stiff and = more power. After an “easy” weekend where I go light on military, squat, and bench, I’ll be kicking off a three week assault on increasing lifts, before the big day comes on March 27.
Also, tomorrow I was going to “officially” weight myself, as it’s 1 week after I was 199.6 (I think it was) but I hopped on this morning just because, and was greeted with a 198.0. Looks like this am fasted cardio works for me. Hawt abs, here I come! haha![/quote]
Selling bikes sucks ass. I feel your pain. I had to sell all mine off 2 years ago. I still fly into withdrawal rages every spring/summer.
Long weekend, hence the “no TNation posting”. I’ll try and get another pic or two of that sexy bitch up here. I had a video made from the trip to CO, I’ll try to post that up as well, and you can hear her scream!
Edgy, yeah, I can’t wait until the kids are grow’d up and I can get all kinds of toys!
Nikki, she’s sexy, no?
Herc, the belt got to me in a week’s time I think. Took a bit to break in the holes where the lever pops in (when putting it on and taking it off) I actually was stuck in it for a while trying to break it free! Another thing, it’s thick and wide and it really digs into my hip bone/ribs depending on where exactly I position it. It’s going to take some getting used to, but tonight I’ll be squatting to see how she feels.
Thanks Veg, I was in contact with the guy that bought her and I asked how the trip home was…“smooth as hell” he said. Of course it was, she was as graceful as she was nasty. Sigh… And last weeks “deload” was mostly a “week off” so i’m going to have to smash some weights hard this week to make up for it. We’ll see how it goes.
Racer, it SUCKS! Now I get my motorcycle magazines in the mail and flip through them and cry. haha. Speaking of bikes, seen the new Yamaha FZ8? Looks pretty good…for a Yamaha
As far as training this weekend…75 minutes of cardio on Saturday, chased the kids around while trying to take pictures that afternoon, and sunday was heavy lifting/organizing the garage for a yard sale this coming weekend. Can’t wait to hit the weights again.
LWI!

Sexy
I didnt know you had a bike? That sucks about having to sell it but you gotta do what you gotta do…
I’m actually thinking of selling mine here soon. I think I might need the money for the wedding so in that case… the toys will have to go ![]()
Squats last night. Meh. Although I got to use my new belt and it feels awesome; totally different feeling than that thin ass BB style belt I was using. This thing was solid as hell, and after last night I think I need to bring it in tighter even, by a notch. Anyone who gets a new, thick, PL belt, I recommend rolling it as tight as you can, in both directions, as many times as you can before using it. Really helped break it in quickly.
Squats
Bar x 10 x 2
95 x 8 x 2
135 x 5
175 x 3
205 x 2 (Belt on, lighter than I would normally start the belt work but wanted to work in it)
vid
225 x 2 (Bottomed out of the left side on rep 2, still got it easy)
255 x 1 (Should have stopped here…)
275 x 0 x 2 (Yes, I tried again with worse results. Head:1, Ink:0)
I am having a hard time ramping up my warmup/work sets to have maximum power at the top end. Any ideas on how I should make my attempts at this meet? I’m thinking of opening around 225-235 (Then maybe 265ish for 2nd, and then decide on a 3rd after I nail the 2nd attempt) after warming up with a few reps of 135, then singles at 175, 195, 205. Too much, too little? Any ideas? Also, got a big knot in my left trap during this squat session, which I’ve not gotten before and it was annoying to try and work out between sets.
Barbell Lunges
Bar x 10
95 x 10 x 2
*Ouch, left hamstring was tight and sore throughout these.
Cable Pull Throughs
4x15
*Fun, although I got some interesting looks as I was violently humping the air!
Back Extensions
4x15
*Super low back pump
Got home and PVC rolled for about 20 minutes, trying to work this kink out of my left glute. It’s bothersome, to say the least, and I can feel it “pull” at the bottom of my squats. I’m going to have my wife drive her elbow and/or knee into it and try to beat it into submission.
Squat vid to follow.
When I fail, I tend to pitch forward. Is that displaying a glute/ham weakness and the quads are trying to take over (something I heard on the SYTYCS series) or does it appear to be technique related. Any ideas? Knees are pushing out, but I think I’m not fully tighted all the way down the posterior chain before/during the squat. I think the approaching meet deadline is messing with my head and my numbers are suffering from it.
Also, does my belt make me look fat? Haha

No, that fat ass and belly flab does tho~
Kidding, Son…just kidding.

Dude, I got a nice ass, you know it.
Not debating the belly flab though…damnit
Technique looks like typical high bar to me. Don’t know much about peaking for meets so that’s all I’ll say!

Looks high bar, but I swear I’m trying to position it low, so who knows. Next time I’ll take a vid from behind, maybe that’ll show some things. I’m not really trying to overhaul anything this close to the meet, just maybe tweak a little thing or two.
Thanks dude
Nice ride! A black bike IS sexy.
I can’t help on the form critique, but the fact that you were ‘violently humping the air’ is fan-freaking-tastic! Well done.
Dude compared to me you’re skinny. Squats really don’t look bad to me.
Sounds like a weakness in the lower back/glutes and abs if you’re pitching forward. Not maintaining form and staying really tight throughout could be part of it as well.
A couple of things meat has said, push elbows forward, and for meets just focus on being the best you that you can be.
Masch, I was looking around for people checking out my “violent humping” action. There were a couple of people who walked right in front of me as I thrust forward, god that was awkward!
Herc, yeah I’m skinny but you can practically double (and then some) all of my lifts. I’ll keep working on staying tight, and I’m going to take a picture later of actual bar placement on my back, just to get a visual because I may “feel” like it’s low, but could actually be lower. We’ll see.
In other news, my bands just came in (12" monster mini black) and I got a cute little “EFS” notepad sitting next to my desk now. I love when they toss free stuff in!
Bench tonight!
If your wife’s pointy elbow isn’t available to be jammed into that glute kink you can try sitting on a tennis ball. Best-ever (imo) self myofascial release technique for relieving a pain in the ass.
how is your lower back/core strength? that plays a lot into squats.
Veg, thanks for the tennis ball idea, I’m sure I can dig one up around the house.
MiM, my lower back feels pretty worked after a long squat session, but I don’t ever notice it holding me back during squats. I just think more time under the bar is what’s going to help, and really hammering the glutes/hams with more volume.
Speaking of volume…
Bench (Got a cage, and a bench, heavy db’s, all that shit…)
Bar x 15 x 2
Bar + monster mini black bands x 10 x 2 (Fun!)
95+bands x 8
Added wrist wraps, right wrist was a little “iffy”
135+bands x 6
135+bands x 5 (vid)
Removed bands
185 x 2 (with pause)
205 x 2 (with pause)
225 x 1 (with pause, wanted 2, but failed without worry due to being in 'da cage)
Dips
BW x 10 x 2
+45 x 8
+45 x 5
Went downstairs to exchange camera, dip belt, and bands for a 3board
3BB (3board bench)
185 x 5
205 x 5
225 x 3 (Last one was U-G-L-Y)
Then decided to do a drop set
175/155/135 x 6/6/4(Wanted 2 more, but no freakin way)
LWI!
Rope Pressdowns
100 x 12
130 x 5 (Tiring fast)
130 x 6 (Little body english)
Woodchops
2 x 20
*Holy crap I felt like puking
Cable Crunches
2 x 20
*Noticed something, if I’m using the rope attachment and keep the handles resting on my traps, it burns more than if I hold it by the top of my head. Just an observation.
Vid of a set of band presses. I decided to try and come up with a way to set myself up other than just plop down, and try to arch on the bench, while tightening my upper back. Seemed to work and feel better, and also I was able to benefit from some leg drive, which is something I’ve had trouble keeping constant in the past.
