Does anyone know of any methods for purposefully causing atrophy in specific muscular regions?
I know actually desiring muscle atrophy sounds like blasphemy, but in certain circumstances, say severe muscular imbalances, it may be helpful. Most would just say “just work the lagging bodyparts”, but what if the imbalance is very prevailant (such as excessive growth in one area due to genetics).
I know many bodybuilders who wish their obliques were smaller for a better V taper. Growing bigger lats and shoulders is a no-brainer, but is there another step?
Punch that muscle with a furious anger and berate it in a foreign language so that it becomes disenchanted and introverted. Also tell the food you eat to ignore that muscle and leave it alone because it’s stupid and dirty.

=D A lot of these responses are funny but I was expecting at least some serious conversation. Is wanting to slim down a specific area is that much of a foreign concept because we’ve all been programmed for more mass, always?

If you don’t train it, it won’t grow. I have never done ab work to keep my waist small and I think it has worked. I do keep visible abs due to indirect use as stabilizers.
