Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull

Your killing me inside.

I’m crushed…

Yeah, because I know how much the opinion of a noob with less than 150 posts means to you here.

It was just bad. Everything I was hoping they weren’t going to do for fear of it ruining the movie, they did…and more.

It wasn’t a one-liner, but I was absolutely cringing up a storm when Indy started rambling about the difference between quicksand and whatever the hell they were stuck in. Seemed like it was thrown in there with a complete disregard for his character.[/quote]

Lol, you obviously didn’t watch or pay attention to The Last Crusade or any episode of Young Indiana Jones. When he found out Mutt was his son, Indy instantly turned into his father. His dialogue and action were exactly how Henry Sr. would’ve behaved, which is funny and pretty brilliant.

It seems most of the people with the most negative things to say haven’t seen the other movies in a long time…if at all.

I actually found it immensely entertaining, in a sort of tongue-in-cheek way. It was a very subtle parody. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I really wanna see it again, and I don’t often say that.

Part of this film was shot in New Haven, on Chapel Street, and several people I know were extras. I saw some of the filming, but never got to see Harrison Ford up close and personal. But I did get free passes to the movie, and I wasn’t disappointed. All the Indiana Jones movies are made to look like the Saturday matinee “B” movies from the fifties on purpose. Kinda cheesy, with running one-liners, cartoonish villians and the campy action hero. There all formulaic, and meant to be this way.

I honestly think the problem is there are too many people who were too young to remember how these movies started so they don’t get the references.

Hey, X, I’m not THAT old, but pretty close.

I think there might have been a little hint at the end, one that they could potentially develop. But maybe that’s just me making stuff up:)

Saw it last night. Wow what a steaming pile of shit that was. At many points during the movie I couldn’t even tell what the hell was going on. This is coming from somebody who loved the first 3 Indiana Jones movies too. The whole thing played out like a cartoon, the dialogue was horrific, the acting poor and the story was pretty lame.

The first 3 movies actually had somewhat believable plots behind them and the effects where used to enhance the stories not drown them out. This movie just went completely over the top. People started walking out of it about halfway through. Spielberg should stop making movies, he has lost his touch.

I enjoyed it a lot, but I did think they went a little too far in a couple of spots. Overall though, I thought it perfectly matched the style and feel of the previous three movies, whilst adding a neat backstory.

I just really hope they don’t make a sequel STARRING the kid.

Yeah that really would be to bad, I would like to see another Indiana jones movie tho…

So they aren’t allowed to have an opinion then? To them, it is then just a bad movie instead of a bad movie with flaws that are forgiven because of nostalgia.

The first three managed to execute the formula successfully while being good movies though. This one honestly felt like Lucas let his twelve year-old nephew to pen the script.

You can have whatever opinion you please. However, if someone is going to judge a movie that has three other “prequels” that are all known for being campy…in spite of the fact that they haven’t seen these movies or at least haven’t since they could walk…then their opinion becomes a hell of a lot less respected or valued.

I haven’t seen this movie yet, so you may be right. However, I sure as hell won’t be judging slightly over the top scenes as odd since the whole series is.

Also, if you haven’t seen these other movies since you were a kid, chances are you don’t remember how far out those movies were. I am only saying that because I did recently watch the other three and, frankly, those movies probably wouldn’t sell well if released now for the first time.

He’s supposed to be 19 years older.

Good point that I think all the haters need to take to heart.

I agree, I think the haterade is coming from people who either forgot about the previous three movies, or just havent’ seen them altogether.

It is an Indiana Jones movie. I paid 6 bucks for my ticket, and I feel I got my money’s worth. I really don’t understand all the hate, it was a fully entertaining flick, it totally “felt” like an Indiana Jones movie.

I was satisfied and then some. Actually, I felt like I was even MORE satisfied than everyone else in the theater that afternoon because I was able to follow along with the “surprises” in the movie.

STFU haters, the movie was great. Only 6-8 bucks to see Indy again? You got a fucking deal.

BTW, Prof X, I hope you will post your review of the movie after you see it.

I know what you are getting at, but I really don’t think it is headed that way. At least I HOPE not. There is only ONE Indiana Jones, and I think they made that clear in the movie.

I agree, but not everyone who thought this movie was terrible has yet to see the previous Indy flicks or has yet to see them again recently.

Had this movie just been far out, as would be expected of an Indy movie, and competently done, I’d probably be singing a different tune. Unfortunately, it was too far out and became, as someone posted above, a parody of itself. And to top it off, it really wasn’t done well at all.

But hey, if people like it, all the power to 'em. I’ll think of them the next time I see Stealth or The Core on tv.
