I can’t remember where it was that I read it, but there was something about how if we were built to be vegetarians the enamel on our teeth would be thicker to accomodate all the additional chewing and grinding required to consume massive amounts of plants. This alone convinces me that I was destined to be an omnivore.

I was thinking the other day about muscular animals, sounds perverted but bare with me!
Rhinos - Vegetarian (BIG and Muscular and very aggressive)
Elephants - Vegetarian (again big and muscular)
Hippos - you may see a theme here
What is the biggest/ most muscular meat eater
(and saying a whale will not win!!)
Are Gorillas only vegetarian, they are stacked!!
I ask because i know chimpanzees will happily attack a monkey in the wild and eat it.
So, should we be thinking about going on a vegan/ vegetarian diet.
Apparently gladiators back in the day were also vegetarian.
Food for thought ??

Alot of gladiators in the day used to eat alot of grains. Very true. All the animals you listed also are very fat and smooth for the most part. Gladiators ate grains for the same reasons. To thicken their skin, as they called it. They knew eating lots of carbs IE. Grains were good for fatness. And this protected you when you got slashed. Better slash a fat layer or blubber then ripped vascular muscle. Know what i mean?
Animals eat what they are programmed to eat and their system is adapted to it. We are different but within out species there is alot of variation. Personally i will NOT gain muscle unless i consume BEEF and Eggs. But BEEF especially.
Then again Reg Park i believe was a vegetarian. So in the end, on your journey of fitness and bodybuilding you will have to discover which foods trigger that special something in your system to make you grow and get lean. Everyone has their magic formula. Figure out yours by trial and error. No other way around it.

I spy someone who watched QI last night…
Part of the thing about big animals being vegetarian is that plants can’t run away so those animals can just eat, eat, eat. If meat grew on trees there would be a lot more large carnivores.
The beauty of human and other pack hunters is that we don’t have to be very big to take down large game.
Why is there such a movement like veganism, which revolts against that which got us to the point of being able to think and have self awareness?
It took us millions of years of eating and cooking the meats and fats of all kinds of animals to develop a frontal lobe. Now we have them and look what some idiots do with them.

If meat grew on trees the world would be a better place.
Gladiators would gorge themselves the night before a fight at a massive feast called ‘Coena Libera’: it’s unlikely that they would restrict themselves during what for most would be the last meal. It was also a way for others to pay tribute to the fighters for sacrificing their lives in the name of glory and entertainment.
That would probably be a good time to break out the steaks.

Exactly, we rose to the top of the animal kingdom by killing and eating other animals.
