I work out in a small university gym and I prefer to share the gym with the cardio bunnies and mirror muscle guys they never want any of the stuff I’m using.
I was all dismayed when I saw the basketball team getting coached on using the squat rack. 
Also I have less guilty feelings about hogging the squat rack when “quarter squat guy” wants to use it.

Top half squats get me adjusted to doing a higher weight on regular squats
I do them in the rack because that’s where the pins are?
Quater squats, to me, are like pin pressing or rack pulls even…its a disection of a big lift

Yeah it’s the size of the gym that does it. You need to have the attitude that your workout is the most important or you’ll get pushed aside.
I admit to pretending I had no idea the bench was a part of his crazy partial rep super duper superset when I moved in and took all the plates off and set it up for my bench.
