No, most of you just aren’t funny over there.

You guys are basically just known for fucked up teeth and a Queen.
Funny to whom?

Funny to a nation basically just known for obesity and retarded presidents?

World War II.

Fuck off.
Is that it? World War II, that was the extent of your argument? Now THAT is funny! Thankyou for reaffirming the dumb ignorant American sterotype for me. You just made my day!
Oh, relax. It was funny.

But for what it’s worth, yes, standards are terribly low nowadays. In my university gym, if you go to two plates or more on anything other than the deadlift, then you’re a BIG MAN.
This.
If you can put up 225 on the Bench press you standout.
I’m basically at a beginner strength level and development (190-195lbs, 315 squat, 405 dead, 205 bench). Yet when I deadlift anything over 3plates, with the attention I get you’d think it was 6 or 7.
On more than one occasion some pricks went over to my bar and laughingly tried to ‘pick it up’.

Fact is, the only people who’ll recognize you’re not all that are the people who actually lift regularly. Everyone else will think you’re hyooge, bulky, Pudz or the Hulk, if only because their perspectives are somewhat skewed by ignorance.

That said, their opinions don’t matter.

I haven’t read the thread but does anyone else get tired of really small people bitching about other people thinking they’re big?

If you’re small, don’t post a fucking thread about how small you are. No one cares how small you are, or how big all your non lifting friends think you are.

you spelled stereotype wrong, btw

Yeah, I said pretty much the same thing.

We NEVER get this shit from people who are actually big…but every small fucker on the site has to speak openly about how their skinny/fat friends all think their 14" arms are huge.

We never get any cool stories about how some cashier passed the fuck out because some 250lb’er walked in the front door in a tank top…but we get ten posts a week about how dudes who weigh less than my left thigh can’t find clothes.

The only way we can see how “muscle bound” you are. Grab a pair of nikes and hold them up to your arms.

You just got owned by a fucking Vampire!!!

Unfortunately in England I have seen plenty of bench/curl warriors who think that their 14" arms (with the shittiest attachments and muscle bellies imaginable) are worth displaying to the world. They tend to look like someone shaved their triceps off with a razor, and wear tight fitting shirts with the collar popped. Specimens can be found in university gyms all over the country.

Put your massive arms to good use and punch anyone who says you’re built, cheers.

Yeah it doesn’t take much to stand out over here. People thought that Christiano Ronaldo was big.

You hardly ever see anyone that even looks like they lift weights.

You know who’s fault that is right?

Soccer! She sucks man, Handegg is so much better.

(The American v. World debate is now complete)

Oh hahaha, 90% of the people on this thread just don’t have any reading comprehension. A few points:

 1. I’m enjoying climbing my way up to a bigger, stronger body - a long way to go yet, but a few experiences along the way that I thought I’d share.

 2. A nice side effect of telling a story on T-Nation is that it can start a massive flame war. Excellent.

 3. Wasn’t starting off as a troll, but happy to assume this role.

So, I saw this massive guy in the gym the other day - but he looked so unfunctional. Terrible affliction.

Well, I won’t disagree with you Prof X; in general, the bigger people here in england seem to be smaller than the big people in the US (personal experience). But then the fat fuckers over there also beat our fat fuckers, hands down.

Very true. You can see his abz plastered all over our London buses these days. His face sickens me. But he’s more successful now than 99% of people on this site will ever be, so I’ll kindly back off.

In all fairness, threads like that would receive a lot of “cool story bro” type responses.

I just don’t get the mindset it takes to log on to a BB forum simply to let everyone know how small you are.

I think the problem people have is that you started this thread as an attempt at a veiled brag. However, you don’t yet actually have any impressive achievments. Although from your comments it seems like you may be willing to put in the work to eventually get to your goal, even if its a goal that is not shared by 99% of us (you keep repeating the old “big muscles are not funtional” line, even if you are saying it “jokingly”)

Spoken like an englishman. Well, since I’m not a troll and some dumbfucks are insistent on branding me that, may as well give them something to latch onto, no?

Nevermind, I’ll let you guide me through what has become an awesome quagmire of shit.

Hmm. Fair enough, if that’s how it came across. If it did, then I should retract the post. I was simply telling a story of how I came across a fairly bizarre situation.

My achievements are pretty impressive (in sports terms). But being big is absolutely not one of them. I’ll get there one day though.

As for the big muscles = unfunctional. That is absolutely, definitely a joke. I’ll abandon the joke, since it is confusing a lot of people who actually think I’m serious.

Clearly you are just regurgitating information people have spewed thus far in this thread.

I did not interpret the OP’s original post as “bragging” or anything close to it. I think he knows that he’s not big, but had someone else tell him he was big (maybe for the first time ever?) and so he wanted a pat on the back for it.

That being said, it is a pretty dumb focal point for a thread.

No, no, no! Not wanting a pat on the back!

Instead, I was venting and reeling from the humiliation of being told that I was muscular, when I wasn’t. And trying to explain what real big people actually look like.

In other words, trying to change their conception of big/strong so that they crawl out of their ignorant states!

Does no one get it? Nevermind. I’m off.
