She was going 60km/h (about 37-40 mph for you imperialists) when she hit me, and put me in hospital for a month. She also sped up after hitting me and tried to escape. She, however, was not in the country illegally.

It is disingenuous to relate both of these things together as you and the media are attempting to do now. He is a reckless driver. He is an illegal immigrant. These are separate issues.
This joke of a thread should have stopped right here.

The only remotely interesting fact I can assert here is that it’s probably the first PWI thread in decades that is submitted by a female poster (who also happens to be smart, as we’ve been told) .

It isn’t a joke of a thread.

I can see it as separate issues, but it is also a case being that if but for the fact that he should have been stopped at the border, the accident would not have happened.

It also demonstrates the crime culture with illegal aliens. This man committed crime after crime and should have been stopped at the border. Along with border jumping he was driving without a license and he fled the scene of an accident after causing gross bodily injury.

1 of every 5 prisoners in the prison system in California is an illegal alien. Keep in mind people are not incarcerated for being illegal aliens so that goes to show you that a majority of illegal aliens commit more crime after the crime of border jumping.

and YAY for Celeste for braving the Lions’ Den.

Wait a minute… is it a surprise that a woman can be smart? =)

And what does it mean “as we’ve been told”?

How terrible is it that it occurred to me hours later?

This is all debate and discussion fellas, no lives are being lost.

Ephrem,

You are not going to win any argument when you state all of Europe has 500k illegal aliens, my city alone has 1 million illegals, and that is just a city, and like OG mentioned the entire state has 3 million all by itself.

The US is easily the most charitable country in the world, whenever there is a crisis somewhere in the world, we are there handing out money. Why? Because people feel since we have the money, we should. It is not our fault that our system allows us to make more money that other countries, at the same time we should not be expected or held accountable to pay for someone else’s shit.

…the scale of your problems is exponentially larger, that is true, and that basically means that i don’t know what the fuck i’m talking about. And obviously, something needs to be done about it. Finding the solution to the problem is a difficult one, and i wish you all the best…

…incidentally, the dollar amount of aid the USA is the largest of all, but it amounts to 0.2% of the gross national income: Foreign Aid for Development Assistance — Global Issues

Guessing you missed this:

As an aside, it should be emphasized that the above figures are comparing government spending. Such spending has been agreed at international level and is spread over a number of priorities.

Individual/private donations may be targeted in many ways. However, even though the charts above do show US aid to be poor (in percentage terms) compared to the rest, the generosity of the American people is far more impressive than their government. Private aid/donation typically through the charity of individual people and organizations can be weighted to certain interests and areas. Nonetheless, it is interesting to note for example, per latest estimates, Americans privately give at least $34 billion overseasâ??more than twice the US official foreign aid of $15 billion at that time:

â?¢International giving by US foundations: $1.5 billion per year
â?¢Charitable giving by US businesses: $2.8 billion annually
â?¢American NGOs: $6.6 billion in grants, goods and volunteers.
â?¢Religious overseas ministries: $3.4 billion, including health care, literacy training, relief and development.
â?¢US colleges scholarships to foreign students: $1.3 billion
â?¢Personal remittances from the US to developing countries: $18 billion in 2000
â?¢Source: Dr. Carol Adelman, Aid and Comfort, Tech Central Station, 21 August 2002.
Although Adelman admitted that â??there are no complete figures for international private givingâ?? she still claimed that Americans are â??clearly the most generous on earth in publicâ??but especially in privateâ??givingâ??. While her assertions should be taken with caution, the numbers are high.

“fuck shit up everywhere in the world…”

Sucks you aren’t a super power doesn’t it?

Florida is considering a law similar to Arizona, but one that is even stricter.
