Ike is a Coming....

Asteroids.

I don’t think home-owner’s insurance covers it.

In 2006, there were an estimated 299,398,484 people living in the United States. How insane does someone have to be to think this country can support a population that large without any of those people living in areas that are risky at all?

Since when did Ohio and Indiana become free of risk of natural disaster?

Why do people who have never lost EVERYTHING try to tell those who have how to deal with it?

Would these same people hold this same attitude if they woke up homeless without any finances?

People threw themselves out of buildings during the last Great Depression. I can only assume these people in this thread would bounce.

I guess I have to go ahead and say it. I never said that you should not live in high risk areas. I said that you should do so on your OWN RESPONSIBILITY.

If your house fell down, do you demand that your neighbors give you money to help rebuild? No. But I’m a stranger to all you people and you demand that our government take money from myself and others and give it to you. You don’t demand of your neighbors but demand of everyone else.

Such logic is the logic of looters.

No, the first question asked of you was specifically how much “wealth” you have given.

Please answer the question.

I’ll answer if you agree to say that its right to rob strangers because you want to live where you do. But you’ve already done that, so here:

Last year, I paid just over $28,000 in federal tax. I paid about $7,000 in state income tax. Now add in real estate and personal property tax. This was not ‘given’ from me but taken against my will.

Now sir, find where I said you should not live wherever you want. My point is that you are free to live where you want but don’t demand others to come and bail you out. Unless you agree with Bush and want to bail out Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan, and all that crowd. If bailouts are good, then I take it you support Bush’s plan? Thought not.
Complain to the government…YOUR problem is not my problem. Its not my fault that you CHOOSE TO PAY TAXES(yes, you have a choice). Sounds like a personal problem. Why should I be held responsible for something that YOU CHOOSE to do???

Get the fuck out of here…wannabe individualist shits like yourself and HH don’t deserve the skin you live in.

Think, if this happened to you…you’d be getting the same help and you’d be damn well appreciative of it.

The thing is, all of those people who lost homes were paying taxes as well so how is it “his” money?

This is true.

So the ideal society is one where everyone’s income is at the call of someone else? You were robbed so its okay to rob someone else? How civilised of you.

I don’t expect others to live for me. I don’t expect or want to use government to force others to help pay for my mistakes. I don’t whine and weedle out of my errors.

I know that being a man is tough. It is far easier to be a crafty weasel and shift burdens onto others. I won’t do it. My morality forbids it.

You folks don’t need to invoke morality; you need to discover it.

This entire society pays taxes. You still have not told us why you CHOOSE to live in a country that has laws you disagree with to this degree.

Why not just move?

Because OBama promises to fix everything.
He can’t,Palin…excuse me…McCain will. Also, correct me if I’m wrong(which I’m not),but didn’t parts of Ohio,Indiana damaged by Ike “rob” you as well?? So technically(by your own logic)…Ohio and Indiana should pay higher taxes as well.

Oh, and tornadoes every 20 yrs?..yeah right…lol. You all get more tornadoes than we do.
AynRandLuvr wrote:

Simple. Since you choose to live in a high-risk area, you should pay more tax. You’ll use the system more than me. Why should I pay the same rate as you? You live on a resort island and scream for government to build you new roads, sewage, schools, and everything else. I live where a tornado destroys a gas station or barn silo once every 20 years.

Your tax rates should be far hire. Otherwise, you are looting. Fair is fair.
Do you even know what “looting” means? So, now we should pay more tax? The way your argument is evolving, it seems like you’re making this shit up as you go along.

So basically, we should allow the government to “rob” us at “gunpoint” to a higher degree than you, so that you can be “robbed” a little less? You should get your principles in order before you try to assert them to others–your logic is severely flawed.

Why not in Swiss Francs? Don’t you like Swiss Francs?

Okay Dr. Szell, let’s play your game: the cost will probably be about $200 billion. The fed budget is $2,400,000,000. So 200/2400 is 1/12. I paid $28,000 last year. So 28000 divided by 12 is roughly $2,333. That’s my extorted ‘gift’ to people who want someone else to pay their bills. Nothing like vampires to suck taxpayers dry.

How much was your ‘willing’ gift? Enjoy rebuilding some guys condo for him?

Now for those who are concerned about what is going on in Ike’s aftermath, I got a report today that there is still a little over 850,000 power outages and they all seem to be in the Houston area. So, hopefully everyone should be able to get in contact with their friends and family before to long.

ARL you can go back to beating off to “Atlas Shrugged” and HH can go back to hunting to give head.

There are still people I can’t get in contact with and the cell phones in this area still aren’t back up.

Mind you, the biggest issue that they are not making public is that you can NOT get through to 911 right now.

When my radio was stolen, none of the phones would go through.

I haven’t gotten any checks as of yet. Hell, I should be in line for like 6 or 7 by now.
