This makes me think about one my friends from high school. We called him “Logansport Flash.”

I know that area also, I worked at Fort Polk in Leesville, La for about 5 or 6 years. So which side of Toledo Bend has the better tasting fish, the Louisiana side or Texas side?
Neither. I only fish Sam Rayburn. Biger bass and the catfish taste a hell of a lot better than Toledo Bend. Also in Rayburn you won’t bust the bottom out of your boat on all the stumps.

Cool…so you’re just south of Center?? I grew up Henderson…north of Nac.
45 miles due south, about 25 due south of San Augustine.
Have to go to Timpson tonight, my sons first 7th grade football game. Ike played hell on football schedules, we were supposed to play Garrison two weeks ago.
Timpson, ugh…lol. My ex-girlfriend’s brother went to school for Garrison few years back. I went to the football games quite often. Timpson is rough.
I expect it will be. Saturday Nacogdoches is playing Jasper due to the weather problems. I expect it to be a severe asswhipping by Nac.
A bit of relief for me tonight, Row 6, homeplate, directly behind the Astros dug out for tonights game.
Free tickets from my buddies dad!
With all this fishing talk, does anybody else fish the Gulf? I’m a little bummed we can’t get down there. With all the rain coming back down the mississipi and feeding the food chain, there is undoubtedly excellent fishing following Ike.

Nac might be the most exciting small town in the state. I spent freshman year at SFA.
I was kicked out of my dorm for repeated various violations
woke up naked outside in yards I couldn’t recognize more than once
learned the severity of consequences for operating a boat while intoxicated and pulled my first and as of yet only threesome that year.
I don’t care what people say, Texas State (then southwest texas) doesn’t hold a candle. Ultimately, I was asked to leave the school. It all worked out well though. After a recovery year at HCC I wound up graduating from a bigger place anyways.

Wow!
Not one person ever remotely challenged HH or myself on the moral grounds of forced aid. Not one. Instead you chuckle and cluck about this nonsense. And X’s meeting stuff isn’t even funny, just pathetically stupid. I bet every one of you will vote for Ahmidijihad’s clone.
You automatically assumed that you are entitled because of your need, that ‘lack’ is a claim on ‘has’. Wow!
What will you parasites do if those who produce one day decide not to rebuild your hurricane coast again (and yet again)? Sit there in hopeless ineptitude screaming at the stars about the umfairness of life? Is it? Is it reallY?

Nacogdoches is straight up college town…of course it depends on your “perspective.” To most its just another East TX “hick town.” It was probably good thing I didn’t end up going to school there out of high school as planned…people in Nac didn’t like us Henderson boys too much back then…lol.
BUT San Marcos was cool…both of my brothers graduated from there in '05.They were also pledging Phi Beta Sigma…which made for fun visits.

You’re funny. Dude, you have been given comprehensive lists of the flaws in your logic, but instead of responding to them, you just repeat the same hyperbolic litanies over and over: What are you parasites gonna do when the productive people aren’t there for to suck blood from? Blah blah blah.
Seriously, decide what you want to argue about. By your own convoluted statements, you’ve shown that you believe taxing the public is immoral. That’s fine. I don’t agree, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. But then you want to quibble over how the pooled funds (which come from all over, not just from YOU) are spent. Disaster relief (or road building or farm subsidies or the cost to remove asbestos from government buildings) is a variable introduced after the fact, so to speak, of your morality argument.
You haven’t responded specifically to any of the actual posts (especially the ones by FTG) refuting your vague arguments. You’ve already shown yourself to be a liar and a hypocrite, and you clearly have little to no understanding of elementary economic processes. I’ve got some shocking news for you: No one is getting Federal money to rebuild their vacation homes. FTG did not buy a plasma T.V. with his FEMA money. And PROFESSOR X didn’t really book a vacation to Hawaii. **
By all means, if you have an opinion, voice it–but at least bring along your Tax Law Cliff’s Notes (and maybe open a window to Psychologyprofessor.com for reference?) so that you can at least feign to have a little knowledge on the subject about which you are arguing.
** Note: The Legion of Doom meetings are real, though.

Whiff! Strike 3, yer out!!
Hello? Hello??? I don’t argue about the plusses and minusses of tax code this or regulation that. I’m not arguing that at all! I’m arguing against your philosophy that you are entitled to something because you NEED it. Whether it be a dollar or my life savings is NOT the point. Whether taxes are ‘fair’ is NOT the point. Whether you have electricity today is NOT THE POINT.
The point is: Your need is NOT morally a claim on anyone else’s resources. You and your government use this disaster to get one group to repair your hurricane lane. What if we don’t want to? What if I don’t care a rat’s ass to help Texas? Must a man go to prison because he doesn’t want to help YOU with his tax money?
Then, you take, not ask. You get your agents (the IRS) to rob because of NEED. You create a giant government based upon extortion and theft…then bitch when the government is corrupt.
Going through life imitating the cow in your avatar is not the way to go. Imitating plant life is not the way to go. You are a man, not a cow or a plant. Live like one.

Did you drive on public roads today? Yes.
Do those public roads occassionally need repair after wear and tear/weather etc? Yes.
Without initial construction or repairs on the roads, would you be able to get around and live your life as you do? No.
Did you go to public school? I will bet yes. Did it give you the basis to go to a public university/go straight to work in a job that eventually brought you to paying 28k in federal taxes last year? Yes.
Do you owe the military a big thank you for keeping america safe since it’s beginning? Yes.
Do you appreciate low energy costs thanks to subsidized drilling/production costs that you most likely don’t know about? Yes.
WOuld you scream at $8 per gallon gas and electric bills ten times higher than they are now? Yes.
Would you be reverted to the stoneage if the electric grid were not supported and you had no electricity? Yes. Would you like that? No.
Would you have things like the internet, advaned airplanes, tv, radio etc if science programs weren’t supported in large part by taxes in order to progress technology? No.
Would you miss all the “modern” things you have? Yes.
Anyways, the list can go on all day. You spew shit out your ass about the tax system while sucking it off in your day to day activities.
You love the milk and honey…
Again, we are not talking about social security and welfare. We are talking about a necessary infrastructure. One you use just the same as all other tax paying citizens.
Hell, just to throw it in there, keep Houston down. Don’t assist us. Don’t cry when your oil costs double or even triple! Your inflation isn’t our problem. Federal highways out of town are down and you don’t want to pay for them. I guess we will just keep our oil and give up…wait, nothing comes from indiana. Your state just absorbs shit from others because it happens to belong to the same nation and doesn’t contribute jack.
To tell you the truth, it is my belief Texas should secede and join Opec. But that is another conversation. It’s a shame the Texas forefathers didn’t know about it’s oil when they repeatedly petitioned america to join.
Anyways, if you want to get moral with it, examine every single thing in your life made accessable by taxes and get rid of them. Support your own belief. Start with the roads, that would be easiest. Quit using them. And don’t start trespassing on private property either if you want to talk about morals. Then research every single element of society touched by taxes, either fully supported, subsidized or made accessable by subsidized costs of production in another element of the given topic.
Oh wait, that’s right, you don’t research. You just make shit up.

What happened to strikes one and two? ? You’re so laughable that it almost isn’t funny. Almost.
after many years of teaching, it gets to where you can look at what someone wrote, without actually reading it, and just know if they get it or are clueless.
FTG: fail, F-. Doesn’t know what the topic is and is/asking questions NOT relevant to the topic at hand.
Cow Person: maybe a D-. He is blameless in his ignorance, as he grew up probably in public schools.
Prof X: as a highly educated black male (his words), he should know better. F—.
firt off: ARL & HH screw you, you guys live in two of the most boring states in the country, I’ve seen them. Yawning profusely ensued. I was more than happy to give my tax dollars to people who needed them. Heaven forebid someone gets a helping hand.
Maybe this is typical Texan big headedness but we seem to be doing just fine. Houston isn’t our only major metropolitan center like LA so the state has plenty of resources to pull. I’d also like to say that the evacuees from Ike have been far better behaved than those of Rita/Katrina.
We had 3 murders(stabbings) last time we had evacuees here in Huntsville and we’ve had nary a one. Doesn’t mean I didn’t keep a knuckle duster in my back pocket but still good to see Texans behaving well with Texans. Galveston and Houston will be fine with time it’s a just a matter of how long. Luckily with the obesity rate down here no one will be starving anytime soon.

I like how you called me “Cow Person.” Honestly, it made me smile.
All three of us “get” what the topic is. The morality of forcing others to pay for our fuckups, right? The thing is, we disagree on whether that is happening.
You’re protege says he isn’t trying to argue about the morality of the tax system, but isn’t the tax system what he references by “IRS thugs” robbing him at gunpoint?
Neither of you has actually made a clear point in any of your posts. I just went back and checked. All you’ve done is spout off the same inflated refrains over and over:
“You’re all parasites. You’re leeching off someone else to pay your bills. You built a corrupt government that robs the productive people at gunpoint so you can rebuild your hurricane coast.”
Screaming something over and over doesn’t make it true.

Apparently you are a shitty teacher then.
The topic is discussing the morality of allocating federal taxes to a local area after it experienced a natural disaster.
The argument is that your tax shouldn’t help my streets.
The fallacy is that I pay taxes too, as do the people using my streets.
The problem is that you can’t quantify how much of our combined taxes compared to yours are drawn from the pot and allocated to public infrastructure damage.
This is what we have been discussing, on topic. You just have no idea what you are talking about so your opinions are understandably off base and factually incorrect.
I have yet to see a direct response to any of my posts and all are on topic. Each addresses an issue either you or aynrand brought up directly.
And how can you say you understand the content of a post with out reading it when you initially took my first post to be in support of you anyways?
First anyrand admittedly making his arguments up, now you guessing as to what is even being discussed, and incorrectly right off the bat.
Nice. I just found out my local Kroger is fully stocked, including meat and fruit, with surpluses stacked at the end of all the isles. Time to go score some red meat! Have a good weekend everyone!
