If You Could Go Back?

Why? Pick the one that performed the best over a given period, and invest heavily in that particular one. Pull out at the designated time, and retire.

As you can see, I’ve given a lot of thought to this…
Why even waste your time waiting for an investment. Just bet all your money on Buster Douglas, the '84 Villanova Wildcats, and the Jets in Superbowl III.

If I could’ve I would’ve started martial arts when a kid instead of 17, and wouldn’t have wasted 2 years plus doing workouts out of flex when I was 20.

But coulda shoulda woulda. Didn’t. Nothing to do about it now.

Ahaha… I know what you mean.

During the O.J. Simpson trial, I was thinking, “I should buy a ton of stock in that Starbuck’s company, I bet that business is going to go crazy after this trial.” DOH!!

I recently sold the first series of those for about $50 on ebay.

Don’t know what the odds were on those, but I suspect that with all the splits Microsoft went through, combined with the incredibly low price of the original stock, it would still outperform those bets.

Yeah, one other thing: I’d have screwed every single decently hot girl I had the opportunity to in HS. Just thinking about it makes me want to bash my head against a brick wall.
This is the only thing I would have changed as well. I have a permanent mark on my forehead from all the wall bashing.

Actually, I would never have started smoking, that way I would never have had to quit.

If I knew then what I know now, I would’ve kicked ass at football (high school).

I don’t remember the odds, either. I think Buster Douglas was a 46:1 underdog, or somewhere around there. I agree that in the long run Microsoft will outperform, but with a bet, what you make is only limited by what you put in. If I throw 3 million on a game with 1:1 odds, 3 hours later, I have 6 million, no waiting.

Learned a lot more math earlier by not being awed by it.

Been better with all teh fine ladies.

Never gotten out of shape.

Of course, fuck it all and fuck’n no regrets, (never a happy ending on these dark sets). What’s done is done.

This’ll probably end up in my advice to my kid whenever I get around to having one.

This one is tough for me…

6 years ago my buddies and I took a trip to a casino on Christmas night. We gambled all night and had to make the 2 hour trip back home the next morning on no sleep as we all had to be at our respective jobs. Well, my buddy fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a tree. As a result, I broke my right femur bone and permanently lost the hearing in my right ear.

The first few months after I learned of my permanent hearing loss were probably the darkest days I’ve ever known. I cried myself to sleep on many nights as I also couldn’t walk due to my broken leg.

The funny thing is, here I am at 24 (almost 25) and I look back on that event as one of the most positive things that has ever happened to me. Those 3 months I spent in that little ass room recovering gave me alot of time to think. Think about what’s important, and how it could all change in an instant, just like it did. Somehow, one day I dug down and promised myself I wouldn’t let this beat me…

The rest is history: I’ve completely transformed my physique from those days (I was pretty chubby at the time of the accident) having competed in 8 BB shows. I have my bachelor’s degree, MBA, almost my MA in econ and I’m going into my 2nd year as a finance PhD student. I’m not boasting at all, but I’m proud of where that motivation from the accident has gotten me thus far in life.

In sum, I never take anything for granted and I blast it in all facets of life…Like Shugs says, ‘Ultima Forsan (Perhaps the Final Hour)’.

If I could do it all over again, would I stay home that night??? Honestly, I’m not sure…but more than likely I’d take the trip.

Since the journey as a result of that event has more than made up for it.

I do. All too well.
sigh We are a sad little bunch, aren’t we?

This is why I don’t believe in the concept of karma, as you can never tell when somthing happens to you whether it is good or bad.

Great story Jimmy (I like the ones with happy endings)

Only if we still wore them and tight rolled the bottoms.

I’d change a LOT in my life. Like Nate said, get better parents. Beyond that, I don’t know. There’s so much. Some of the best parts of my life are because of shady or uneducated decisions I made in the past.

Training-wise, though, I’d get my butt in the gym 8 yrs ago when I emt my husband and not worry about body image and fat loss and crap like that. Just get in and train.

Reading this thread brings up another couple. I should’ve been with most of the girls I turned down. You only live once right? Why was I so obsessed with ‘doing the right thing’? Did I want to be a priest or something?

And I wish I’d never started smoking weed. Took me years to give it away during which I wasted a lot of time playing computer games. Lot of stuff I could’ve accomplished with that time.

Karma baby. What, they dont have “My name is Earl” down under?

Yeah, but the problem is having that 3 million to begin with. Just because you went back in time doesn’t mean your past self is also filthy rich! Come on, man!
