Shank you are a lucky man, you just got 2 absolute legends (many other aspiring legends) offering you their services… NICE EFFORT!!!
I see where shank is coming from I do think there is some diets that are geared toward women and some that a geared more towards men. Women do have issues that men don’t have. But, don’t think Patricia is putting you down by saying that there are “no women diets” shes just saying that diets should cater to the indvidual which is absloutely 100% correct. Thats why I think these diets that people throw around are to general. They are not meant for the invidual. Such as the fad diets currently out there. Same goes for the diets posted here in t-mag it’s not focus on the individual. Its geared for the mass audience. I would reccomend her to see a nutritionist or dietician so that they can get her on a program.

Shank,
Congrats to you for helping your girlfriend. There is loads of info in the articles here that will help you guys. Just start digging and reading. And don’t get discouraged by Patricia. She probably knows more than most, but she does come across as if she is God’s gift to this forum. And that is somewhat irritating.
Anyway, I did want to comment on the eating disorder. It is IMPERATIVE that your girlfriend is completely mentally well. I suffered from an eating disorder for 3 years, and it can make trying to lose weight very messy if you don’t have the right mindset. She really needs to build confidence in herself no matter what weight she is, and she needs to see the losing weight/bldg muscle as a life change and not a temporary thing. Depending on how long she suffered from the eating disorder, there is a chance her metabolism was damaged. This can make it even more frustrating trying to lose weight. But if she can put on some muscle, it should help with her metabolism if that has slowed down any.
I wish you the best of luck. And encourage her to go easy on herself- she won’t be cassanova overnight.

Dude, we all want Cassanova. ![]()
For you vets, I hesitate inviting people to join these forums due to the attitudes in some of your responses. Before you dismis me as another whiner please hear me out.
I have recently gotten both of my parents to work out with me which is good cause they are close to getting old. They are both in their 50’s. Nevertheless I have managed to convince them that deadlifts and squats were not only safe but the most effective way to train for overall improvement in strength and conditioning. (among other compound moves)
I have gathered all of my knowledge about training primarily through this site and the experienced lifters on this forum so I am eternally grateful.
However If I wanted to let my parents find their own answers here I am afraid they might actually ask a question on here before they actually read every back article in T-mag. To boot, Neither is very computer literate although they can manage and they probably wouldn’t even realize that half of the features are even available to them. My dad still asks me how to send an e-mail with an attachment every time he does it.
Look all i’m saying is that peoples tones have changed here. Not everyone that comes here looking for answers to their fitness questions is a smart as we all would like to think. Some people may need a little, Hey try this or do a search using these key words.
It’s gotten to the point where you say you are helping but the whole “helping” post is a complaint about how you shouldn’t even be answering these questions.
anyways please just take it easy on people that you know are newbies. I would eventually like my parents to learn some of this for themselves. You know, Teach them to fish.
I agree with Veg…somtimes the flames do get out of control on here…
WOW, this thread was saved by Cassandra’s genuine approach to helping others, and of course the presence of JB and show of concern. Ko, though through all the wrong intentions, great post.
Other than that, Im surprised by some members remarks! Real immature, stupid, and simply ignorat.
Shank, get a hold of those willing to help you. Leave this thread and ignore the bashing.

I’m going to be the odd newbie (or fairly newbie) out on this issue of the vets’ attitude. Take me to task if you will. So be it.
My understanding of the vets’ “attitude” is not so much one of “we don’t want newbies here,” as it is the impression many newbies give that they simply have not read too many of the aritcles before posting here. That was certainly my impression as a newbie.
Overall, I have found the vets, Patricia included, to be very willing to help people. For the most part, when people have posted asking for help and given a fair amount of detail concerning what response they were looking for, the vets have always responded with detailed answers.
With that said, shank, I make my private apology public. I’m sorry if I was rough on you with my previous post. My offer to help still stands if you’re interested. I’m not Cassandra or John but I still have something to offer.
Now, can we all shake hands and be friends? After all, whether a newbie, a vet or something in between, we’re all here for the same reason - to improve our bodies ![]()
i had to see what the hype was all about concerning Cassanova. I believe the hype after i did a search. nice job and much respect to cassanova. laters pk
