Btw, Alpha. I’m digging your site. Haven’t gotten to look through it all, but damn good job. Do you already have people affiliated with NEVERsate.com? authors, athletes, trainers, etc?

I’m very envious of all you got going on right now, Alpha. I expect nothing but success from your endeavors.

When is the gym opening, I’d like to pick your brain a bit once you’ve gotten through the craziness and sort of settled in to a routine.

deadlifts
530 x 1 (projected 1st attempt)
565 x 1 (projected 2nd attempt)
535 x 2

front squats
325 x 3
340 x 2
350 x 2

pullthroughs / abs
4 sets of 15 / 12

kneeling jumps
4 sets of 3

Today was the last of my heavy pulls from the floor and I wanted to feel something close to a second attempt. Very steady pull, felt good. I could’ve/should’ve pulled the 535 for a third rep, but had my head set on 2 going in. No matter. Front Squat was a PR having never really spent a ton of time training them like I have this training cycle. Still a little more room left in that tank.

Absolutely brother. I will answer anything I can. Feel free to ask any time you want. I don’t foresee things becoming less crazy for a long time, but I’d be more than happy to help you out!

Squats are coming around just in time. First set with 535 got a little squirrely out of the hole, but second set went as planned. Damn phone ran out of space trying to get my work sets recorded. Guess that’s what happens when you have a 2 year old running around.

edit… damn that’s a big pic

Gym just got a bamboo bar and I played around with it a little bit warming up for bench. Gonna have some fun with that after the meet.

Lockouts felt real good considering I had just pulled yesterday. I’m recovering pretty quick now that I have cut back on my volume. I’ve got a couple more workouts to put in the hard work then coast in to the meet. Feeling pretty confident right now.

2 weeks out

Last heavy squat. Wanted to hit somewhat of a second attempt and then a third with the reverse bands. 545 started to drift forward on me and my spot gave me a little pull about halfway up to finish the squat. Was a technique flaw, the strength was there. Nevertheless, I may back off that number a bit for a second attempt. I’m trying to be smart about my attempts, looking for a solid total instead of chasing numbers. That was my last heavy squat session, I’ll hit my opener on Saturday.

I’m stoked to see how you do brother! You don’t need any luck from me, but I’ll wish you it anyway.

Good luck boss…eager to see what kind of numbers you put up.

Thanks fellas! I’ll take all the goodwill ya’ll got.

First time in quite a few weeks that I feel good walking out of a bench workout. Still not where I should be, but I’m still in reach of a decent number.

Good luck man! What are you planned attempts?

Thanks NS.

Openers are looking like 505 / 315 / 530. I’d like to make 35lb jumps on the squat and pull, 20 on the bench. We’ll see how I’m feeling.

After having cleaned up my diet starting at about 10 weeks out, I was close enough that I decided to make the weight cut to 181. Everything had gone as planned, but a late weigh in (6pm Friday night) and travel threw my plans off a bit. I did have to shed another pound once completing our 4 1/2 hour journey to BFE (Philadelphia, MS). And, happy to say, I made it back up to 195 by the time I hit the bed Friday night.

squat
505
530 (vid)
555 miss

bench
315
335
355 (vid)

deadlift
530
565 (vid)
580 miss

Totaled 1450 @ 181.

Squat, bench, and total all technically PRs at bodyweight 181. The weight cut may have gotten me on the squat, I feel like I should have been good for that number. Bench was just the opposite. After having fought with my bench for weeks in training, it turned around and I may have left another 10-15 pounds on the platform here. Frustrating me the most is my pull. When a meet drags and it is late I have such a difficult time getting up for the deadlift. My head was everywhere but in the lift walking to the bar for that 3rd attempt and that is embarassing. With the way training went, I should have been good for 6. And I have been telling myself that for a few years now. Gotta figure that shit out. I need to find my aggression when I’m just ready to get on the road.

For a meet in Podunk, Mississippi, what a hell of a line up. Had a team, of 5 I think, in from the Ukraine. Led by Arkady Shaloha (sp). This cat is 181, solid rock. Squats 730, benches 440, pulls 660 (off the top of my head). Ridiculous. Looked good for more across the board to me. Tee Cummins went head to head with Brandon Bruce and it came down to 3rd deadlifts, with Tee winning by 10lbs.

Now, to get back to work

Awesome work brother!
