i would not pre-exhaust bench press with flyes. I would do the opposite. First do heavy dumbell bench presses and super-set them with heavu flyes. You hit chest with the dumbell presses and then you continue to hit chest while taking out the triceps with the flyes. You only need 6 heavy super-sets and you are done. Do slow eccentrics with high intensity. use atleast 75% rep max for the bench press and then cut the weight in half for the flyes. Do 6 reps plus 6 reps. By far the best! laters pk
The inability to achieve a good pump (if form is correct, speed of movement is correct, ect.)is one indicator that the individual might be entering overtraining.
First, I would have to ask how long you’ve been following that program? If you’ve been doing it for more than six weeks, I would suggest switching to something else. Possibly try using heavier weight and lower reps for a couple weeks. Programs like the 5x5 and Poliquin’s “Patient Lifters” have been beneficial for me.
