What makes you distrust the overwhelming majority of healthcare professionals and their direct, blunt, easy to understand explanations and directives?
What are these obvious actions that should be avoided, which you think are debatable?

Bro science.
Pat has fascist tendencies. Dehumanizing those who think differently is how they operate.
He did consult with medical experts, that’s why he said it. He said the drug is showing promise and that hopefully it will work. He never endorsed anybody taking it without doctor’s approval. And low and behold, now the combo is being approved for off-label use to treat the coronavirus. Cuomo had also advocated for the drugs.
Nice story, to bad it’s full of shit. The NY Times is one of the worst rags out there. They lie to a level that is literally making shit up.
So the headline say, ‘Medical Expert who corrects Trump…’ yet somehow the article, never mentions what Fauci corrected Trump on. Great find. Maybe next time, you can post an article that actually supports the headline.
Well this guy believes them
Wonder why he had to be corrected if he consulted so well with them? He said it’s been around for a long time which means if it doesn’t go as planned it won’t kill anybody. So no he didn’t say don’t take it without talking to a doctor. But no mistake of how people took what he said. All he needed to say was that some drugs were promising and the FDA was figuring things out. Instead the price went from like ten bucks to almost 600 as people stocked up and undoubtedly used without consulting doctors. That is the fault of them. The way the President worded what he said is the fault of him. And that’s why doctors have had to say once again, the President isn’t correct.
I hope like hell the drug works for this. But let’s not tell people things in the middle of a health crisis that are unproven and can lead to dangerous decisions.
Either you didn’t read the article or you aren’t smart enough to click the link embedded in the article? The article wasn’t about him correcting Trump. It was about the reaction of right wing lunatics who are mad that he has corrected Trump. See when you read an article on a topic it often links to previous articles in case you are unaware of where that is coming from.
Right wing nut jobs attack the doctor because he corrects the President is why I linked it. And you’re angry that it made you have to click a link to get caught up on the backstory?
You’re looking pretty foolish here.
He didn’t consult with anyone but Hannity and whatever fringe websites he goes to. That is a fact. No medical experts he supposedly consulted with were there to back him up. Fauci was certainly downplaying what Trump said.
You don’t read the nyt so why make up lies about it? You are a compulsive liar as in mentally ill.
zecarlo has fascist tendencies. Dehumanizing those who think differently is how they operate…
Who did I dehumanize? You’re trying too hard.
Do you mean pat? He is a liar. He’s posted plenty of them here and when called on them he vanishes. Liars are humans so calling a human a liar is not dehumanizing. He is also mentally ill. He even admitted it.
This is a guy who says we should nuke China.
Also, I don’t call him those things because he has different beliefs than I. I call him those things because, as I mentioned, he is those things.
In all fairness there is a difference between someone who thinks differently, and someone who doesnt think but has different views.
Exactly. If I call him a liar it’s because he’s posted lies, not because of his political affiliation. If I call him a moron well, the reasons should be self evident.
Again, he says we should nuke China. That’s not a political belief; that’s just a stupid (and murderous) way of thinking. And it’s coming from Mr. Prolife who calls anyone who is prochoice an evil baby killer.
Yes I meant Pat
If those things are true then I haven’t been trying hard enough - I didn’t even notice
I wish I hadn’t so good for you.
Although mentally ill was probably not the technically correct term.I mean, he could be, but I am in no position to diagnose that. It is more like mentally impaired because of what happened to him. Which probably means I shouldn’t be such a jerk to him and just ignore his idiocy. I should be the bigger Christian. In short, thanks for making me rethink how I respond to that dum… dude.
I know that might sound a bit insincere but even when I’m being sincere I can’t turn off the sarcasm 100%.
I suspect it’s a bit of both fwiw
Maybe he was those things but no longer is
Would you really bring up someone ‘admitting’ to once having been mentally ill if they were agreeing with you?
(Now I’m trying too hard)
I can relate
They would have to be mentally ill to agree with me.
You are embarrassed by Americans, well, I want to throw in some Canadians. Yes, just blame Canada.
In one city the city authorities a few days ago broke up a backyard party with about 20 people attending. The fine, instead of being around $750, is likely going to judged up over $100,000.
I wonder if these people are factual revisionists who just think in a little while this will all be found to be an overreaction, and we can just go on as normal.
The ‘I hear you’ speech was his finest hour IMO.
Followed closely by throwing the strike at the Yankees game.
I tend to agree with this. It doesn’t need to be a black and white debate between shutting everything down and pretending life is completely normal right now. Suggesting an alternative method doesn’t make one heartless or disgusting.
I am very interested to see how this pans out for Sweden with the very few limitations they have placed with the intent of utilizing a herd immunity strategy. For the sake of this thread, I also find it very interesting that Sweden has the largest percentage of atheist/non-religious people in the western hemisphere.
