I’m Embarrassed by Americans, Disgusted Even

No, he said that I was making up bullshit after I quoted the news and the WHO.

I don’t even know why I bother with this forum anymore, it’s a bunch of mindless arguments about nothing.

You also don’t know whether or not it IS viable, because in the first place you didn’t read the actual study, and in the second place the actual study didn’t mention anything about viability.

Damn how many times you going to screw this one up? I specifically said what you said was bullshit and it didn’t have anything to do with either of those. Just like in the other thread you’re backpedaling and trying to change the topic.

Sometimes it’s best just to quit when behind. Or go back and read the article that you missed when I first posted it.

If we open up society and abide by this barbaric policy you’ve instated should be rule if the spread isn’t contained, hospitals would be incredibly overwhelmed. People wouldn’t be able to come in for myocardial infarction, injuries, disease treatment etc. More people would probably die within this scenario compared economic recession + covid-19 combined (provided we were to mitigate spread)

Too many people leave out the hospital part. People don’t get sick and die; they get sick, go to the hospital and later die.

Many people also get better in hospital… Without hospitals many who get sick → nearly die → go to hospital → recover will get sick → die

Correct. We have statistics for most major things that kill people which are pretty accurate. What we don’t have (at least I wouldn’t think in any sort of accuracy) is statistics for those items in a scenario where medicine/beds/doctors etc aren’t available.

We can probably roughly go by what % of cases are severe, requiring hospitalisation. Cases that are severe enough to require hospitalisation may be lethal without medical intervention.

I don’t even know what you are talking about anymore, you are arguing with me in multiple threads about multiple things and telling me everything I say is bullshit, even when I have a reference for it. I’m not inventing any stories or data, everything I’m claiming is based on the news or government info. Just drop it already, because this is going nowhere, like I said numerous times.

You realize I’m not Trump or the WHO and I’m not instating any policies, right? That is if the virus can’t be stopped at all, and that does not appear to be the situation. Look at Wuhan right now.

??? Wuhan has by in large entirely controlled the spread. The rate of new cases is like .04% per day… More people are recovering than they are getting sick

Coronavirus has almost (purportedly) been wiped out in mainland China due to the extreme protocals they initially put in place… Lasted only about two months.

I think for now we wait and understand what we are dealing with exactly. There might come a point where we all go back to work / gym with Covid still around and spreading. I think that point would be when we are prepared to handle the amount of sick people that going back to work / gym is going to produce. Things like setting up non-used buildings (churches, stadiums, convention centers come to mind) into make shift hospitals, having enough ventilators for the projected sick, and possibly an effective vaccine would get us to the point of returning to normal business IMO.

You haven’t had references for the things I called bullshit. And while your focus may be on me I was far from the only one saying it.

You sure like to say drop it to other people while you are constantly bringing the same thing up. But I do agree it’s past the point.

You said that it was bullshit that the virus lives on surfaces for 2-3 days, but that’s what the news was reporting. You don’t seem to know what you are talking about anymore.

Bringing what up? I’m just responding to you, and telling you to stop with pointless arguments.

I’m really starting to feel the title of this thread.

Do try and keep up that wasn’t what I was referring to. But yes that other “fact” of yours that was old news has already been addressed by someone who knows more than you on the subject.

sigh you didn’t get it and I had hopes you would. Here’s another hint: If you want someone to stop talking about something in a forum perhaps try to stop talking about it? You say stuff, people call it out, you get frustrated and say “everyone stop.” But you never stop responding.

Well I must have missed that, but you keep saying I’m making up bullshit when it is something reported in the news. Just because someone else has information contradicting it doesn’t mean it is bullshit, on most subjects you will have studies with varying results. Maybe this other someone’s information will turn out to be incorrect as well, but this is what we have to work with at the moment.

You’re just running around in circles with an argument about nothing. Feel free to continue if it makes you feel better about yourself.

Aragorn posted it to you. He’s posted a lot of good stuff to you. Sometimes you read it and quote it. Other times you don’t. But ya missed me linking an articles as well. Eye doctors in Canada still open?

Lol no I’m really just smiling to myself thinking I bet if Chris replies to this he says please stop guys. And then I think well of course he will respond. He can’t move on himself he just wants everyone to do it for him.

I’m trying to get you to realize that you have power to control yourself man. Then you will spend less time saying talk about something else everyone.

Amen brother.

What specifically did he screw up? He seems to be on the ball and he’s getting things done.

This sort of thing is subjective (evaluating someone’s performance), but I’ll try to explain why I feel he has been inadequate at handling the response.

  1. In January / February he downplayed the risk. Claimed it was going to disappear.
  2. In early March he started to acknowledge the risk, but claimed Democrats and the media were using the virus to hurt him politically (it always has to be about him).
  3. Still in early March he was claiming that it would just go away. Maybe some people will get flu like symptoms.
  4. By mid March he started contradicting himself from just days previous claiming he knew all along that is was going to be a “pandemic”.
  5. By late March he switched from health to economy, and started talking about opening the economy by Easter.
  6. By this point he has contradicted the scientists giving him the best information he is going to get.
  7. Now he is contradicting point 5, which is good, but point 5 should have never been stated in the first place.
  8. He is slowing down the production of ventilators to negotiate, when the ventilators will likely be too late to help the first couple of waves of the sick already.

It is my opinion that we should base decisions on science and the best information we have. He chooses not to do that, and I consider that screwing the pooch.

Also, he claimed that chloroquine was a treatment for it, when the science was nowhere near backing up his claim. Several people I think in Nigeria took that to heart and poisoned themselves with the stuff.

The other week Dr, Fauci was saying that he couldn’t just push Trump away from a microphone, and that he was making misleading statements.
