I Hate Night Clubs

Yep. Wasn’t a huge fan of clubbing to begin with, probably won’t go in a club ever again…bars yes, but then I never worked at one.

Yeah totally. I think it’s because I was always looking for the bad stuff. Now when I’m back into the environment, that’s what my brain still does. So I can’t relax and enjoy myself.

yep, that sums it up. i am lucky my GF understands that. i know some wouldn’t.

I definitely went through a clubbing phase for about a year and while I was into it it was great… I was spoiled though, by going to clubs in Hollywood like Giant (now called Spundae I think) and clubs in Spain. I always went with the same crew of people and had hookups all over the place to get VIP status so there was no hardly any waiting in line to get in, etc.

Then, in October of '01, not sure if 911 had anything to do with it or not, I lost the urge to go. The last time I went I noticed how fucked up everything was, how everyone was cracked out of their gords and trying to maintain an image that they were something they weren’t. Status in the club didn’t mean shit in the real world, but that’s all that mattered to the people I was going there with. I also think that they were more into getting high and fucked up rather than enjoying the club experience. This was evident to me by watching one of the guys I knew take two bumps of “K” AFTER we had left the club and were looking for a place to have breakfast! And those goddamned clothes were expensive! When I left the club scene, I didn’t complain or have any ill-will toward it, I just figured I grew out of it. It just wasn’t for me anymore.

I caught some flak from the crew, but when it all came down to it the only real common bond I had with any of them was that we got together on weekends and went to the club. They spiralled more into the drug aspect of it and considered going to the club a business opprotunity rather than having a good time. So I severed all ties and feel the better for it.

Here’s my thoughts, based on my experience of the club scene.

GIRLS:
They go to clubs to dance first and foremost. They aren’t necessarily looking for guys. So, the guy who is on the prowl looking for some skooch will probably be dissapointed unless he too likes to dance. They will gladly accept drinks from you but rarely will they make the effort to get to know you, especially if you’re trying to throw game while they’re trying to dance.

DOORMEN:
Generally tired, frustrated, and underpaid. The key to dealing with them is to just be cool, patient and understanding. It’s not his fault you’re standing in line, it’s yours for wanting to be there to begin with. If you don’t like waiting in line then network your way to VIP status or just don’t freaking go anymore or get there early and hang around the club kids.

CLUB KIDS:
Misguided youth who have no idea what reality is. They are the onces who get too fucked up and are into things that range along the side of dangerous. They are there for the party, and believe it or not the music. Best bet is to steer clear of them and let them do their thing. The club scene is not a weekend thing for them, it’s their actual lifestyle.

BARTENDERS:
See Doormen, If you want to get on their good side, tip them nicely and be there early enough to get your buzz going before the huge crowd shows up.

GO-GO DANCERS:
They don’t want you, don’t be an idiot and spend money on them via bottles of water or drinks because of their hot appearance and feigned interest in you. They’re getting paid to keep the party going.

MUSIC:
Ok, for me, while I was clubbing, I liked particular DJ’s and would only go when I knew they were spinning. (Paul Okenfold, Christopher Lawrence, DJ Irene, D-FUSE etc.) If you’re not feeling the music, then like Mike Shank said, you’ll have a miserable time and the music just sounds like distorted noise. DO NOT MEDICATE YOURSELF WITH ILLICIT DRUGS IN ORDER TO APPRECIATE THE MUSIC… You should already like that kind of music to begin with.

DRUGS:
No need to dance around the topic, it’s thick in the clubs. For the uninitiated, just take a look at how many people are drinking water or Red Bull rather than booze and you’ll see just how many people are medicating themselves with the vast array of club drugs. I’m sure the college guys in this forum can back me up on this. If you don’t want to be around drug use, then don’t go to clubs. The drug scene, no matter how glamourous or fun it may seem initially, is a dirty shady rotten business. It’s money driven and evil no matter how candy coated it is superficially.

Like I said, clubbing for me was definitely in my life for about a year and I had a really good time. But I took it at face value. It was a yearlong Halloween party where I delved into the hedonistic, edgy part of myself and made some lifelong memeories. However, when I was over it, I was over it and haven’t been back since. I now prefer the quaint Irish bars where the music is a backdrop and conversation and laughs are in the foreground. I don’t even listen to trance or anything of the sort anymore. I prefer blues or even folk music to chill to, and alternative and heavy metal to work out.

I can’t say that I hate night clubs, like Mike Shank. I’m sure my opinion would change if I ever went back. I suppose that’s why I haven’t been back. I parted ways with the scene when it was time, so now I can look back on the clubbing days fondly rather than regretfully.

GAINER

Demon: “Hey Elevationgain, nice Eight-ball contacts!”

Elevationgain: “Those aren’t contacts…”

I prefer cranberry juice myself…

Firstly…

THIS IS NEW JERSEY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. You should be used to Scumbags, hobo’s, and shady bastards by now. Unless you’re from Wisconsin, then you’re just asking for trouble.

So, which Night Club is this? its probabally one ive been to.

Wisconsin? I got my ass kicked in Wisconsin.

I live in Wisconsin, and we got plenty of ho’s and shady characters, have you ever heard of Jeff Dahlmer or Ed Gean?? We is CRAZY up here!! Besides Milwaukee is still one of the scariest places I have ever been in my life. My ex-girlfriend went to a concert down there with her sister and they got lost in the ghetto(which is why I offered to drive them), and some crazy dude just ran up and started beating on the door of the car and screaming at them for no reason. Had I been there I would probably be dead after I got done beating that guys ass. Before I know it 10 guys pop out of nowhere filling me full of holes!

I’m going to have to agree with shank and gainer here. I agree that club music sounds like cat’s fucking to me aside from being WAY to loud. That and I don’t do really like drugs/enjoy talking to women and being able to hear them. BTW, there’s plenty of scantily clad sluts in the bars here in Jersey. I haven’t been out in almost 2 months!!! Think I might be due.
