I Got My First Supplement

and its a multi vitamin, i have no idea which brand to choose so i just picked up a one a day thing from centrum called centrum forte, no idea how good it is, anyone else taking multi vits and got some good brands?

Centrum is shit.

I take NOW Adam w/out iron. I’ve heard good things about twinlabs too.

Well, nothing like shitting on a guy who’s making the effort.

At least the post didn’t start with “Bro,”.

Vitamins are vitamins.

For the most part, you get everything you need (except Omega-3) from your diet, assuming you’re not living off 7-11 hot dogs and Mountain Dew.

Centrum’s fine, just don’t take 'em on an empty stomach or you’ll feel queasy.

Your money would be much better spent on protein powder or EFA (Essential Fatty Acids–that’s the Omega 3 stuff that’s only found in some fish, but is wonderful for you).

“A bro in need is a bro indeed.”

fuck centrum kid, get some steak

Your supplement cherry has been popped.

Now go lift.

lol i do lift, and i eat great, i judst wanted to make sure any gaps would be coverd, as i eat different fruits and veggies every day im sure im deficent in some minerals or vits.

im considering some omega 3 stuff (fish oil right? ) from what ive read it looks good unless you take massive ammounts of it

As an basic multi-vitamin/ mineral supplement Centrum is okay, if you are looking to cover certain nutritional bases at RDA/ RDI recommendations. There are much better multi?s out there (in my humble opinion) but they come at a price. The LEF make a good multi supplement, as do Twinlabs and Solgar among other companies. However the serving size is usually multiple capsules/ tablets rather than a single pill, this is due, in part, to the forms of vitamins/ minerals used which take up more space than those used in the cheaper brands. At the end of the day the choice is yours, it depends how much you believe in the whole optimum nutrition stance, I for one lean towards supplementation. If you do choose to go this route it should not (as other posters have mentioned) replace good nutritional practices as advocated on this board by Drs. Lowery and Berardi etc, but would be in addition too them.

No Centrum really is garbage. Not only is 100% of the RDA way too low for water-soluble vits like C, E and all the B vitamins, but Centrum uses REALLY shitty forms of minerals (calcium, magnesium and selenium to name a few). Add to that the fact that Centrum was shown to not completely breakdown and you’re not even getting anywhere near the label dosages (which are too low to begin with). And lastly, the markup is huge. There is nothing like paying 10 bucks for a product that costs the manufacturer 25 cents.

Personaly I dole out the cash for the animal pak vitamins. And oddly enough i’ve really noticed a difference:

in my skin
eyes
fingernails
sleep and recovery

Plus they have some ov their own digestive enzymes and good bioavailability (from what ive read)

Now Foods ADAM.

Best price, and all the zinc and folic acid a lifter needs.

I take GNC Mega Men multivitamins and ive found they work pretty good

Do you have a source for this info?
