I Don't Use Steroids Because...

Tubby,

I see what you are saying. Perhaps PX comes across as brassy sometimes but I don’t think he has like some malicious agenda nor does he exactly rip on people.

Now, I am not the world’s foremost expert on bodybuilding, 'roids, or nutrition. But I do think I know ENOUGH and I think this counts ENOUGH. I am pretty well mannered on this board and I do enjoy posting on here. It is an outlet for a lot of us to discuss what we love and do everyday.

Here is where stuff starts getting irritating and I am thinking this is where some of us start getting irritated. I am not speaking for PX or anyone else though …

It takes a lot of time, guess work, trial and error, patience, education, dedication, strategy, and preparation to do this stuff at a competent or excellent level. As I said in another post, many people sacrificed some things in order to get where they were at.

They had to plow through articles, decipher shit from good, talk to people, try and fail - get back up, and bust their asses!

Then they see people pop up on these boards and post shit like this - and I have stated this before in my Questions of the Misguided thread:

-My (bodypart(s)) sucks. Why?
-I want to get big. I weigh 170#. What 'roids should I use?
-Get this thread in order. I want so-and-so to get back on here and tell me exactly what to do for (insert bodypart or goal here).
-I want free online training.
-How much will I gain if I do X, Y, and Z?
-I need a routine for (bodypart). What should I do? What is there to do?
-How come bodybuilders don’t do X, Y, or Z?

Some of these questions cannot be answered. Some are plain idiotic. Some imply that the person is a lazy fuck who does not wish to plow or do a specific search - either online or in person - for FREE or paid-for information.

Some others implies that the person is either really dumb or playing dumb! Most likely its playing dumb and just entertaining himself, in my opinion.

Asking light questions about 'roids implies the person does not give that much weight to an expensive and possibly harmful decision.

Asking how much weight someone will gain with a given strategy is unanswerable (is this a word?).

Asking what to do for a bodypart (ie: what exercises are available) means the person does not read articles and wants to use our sunk/used time/information instead of looking up basic articles for the beginner.

Asking why a bodybuilder doesn’t do _______ exercises should be known by the reasonable thinker (ie: someone with a minimal, competent level of logic). Bodybuilders don’t do rings, O-Lifts, plyos, etc. because they don’t fucking work for BBing. If they did BBers would use 'em. AND they don’t do much - IF ANYTHING - for T or GH levels.

People stating or implying that
-bodybuilders are weak
-are lazy and leisurely with their trade/hobby
-get by on genetics or drugs alone
-do senseless exercies or routines
-have nothing useful or educational to say regarding training …
is ANNOYING, obnoxious, and/or immature to many on here.

SO - some people remain polite and reason nicely and some get brassy!

Imagine you go to a successful business man or some type of professional. You say, “I want you to educate me for free. Don’t just point me in the right direction. Tell me everything - not just what’s a good school go to. Actually, create a position for me and employ me - NOW!”

The person would probably say “are you fucking kidding me?! I have X amount of experience and X amount of schooling. I can’t do it all for you! I can point you in the right direction, but you have to go through some rites of passage on your own!”

Think about it!

Bricknyce

perhaps my being a bit narky in my post comes accross as me dissrespecting Prof X and I guess to some extent I did.

i guess given the title of this thread “I dont do steroids because” i felt entitled to say that the steroids the doctor gave me hurt and suggest it was one of the reasons i didnt want to do them.

i am not a subject matter expert on anything really except perhaps reasons why i do or do not do things.

steroids dont make bodybuilders big years of hard work sacrifice and dedication make bodybuilders get big. Steroids are a tool that can be used to help them through their workouts.

i believe that Prof X knows alot more than i do about steroids and bodybuilding in general. i know a bit but at this stage i dont offer much to other forum users at this stage besides encouragement and some of my experiences.

im also one of those guys who asks questions about a move and i guess to some extent its a bit cheeky when i could theoreticly trawl the net and find the info myself, i appreciate the help that my fellow forum users afford me and i do try to put the strategies they suggest into place.

i also google and T-Nation search for information before a question is posted because really thats courtesy.

so appologies to prof x if he thought i was saying anything other than i didnt appreciate him being rude to me, and to anyone else that may have felt my comments were taking anything away from those who are body builders and steroid users,

I understand that its only through hard work and sacrifice that bodybuilders get large the Drugs are just a tool that helps.

Cheers
Tubby

Thanks, Push.

Stopped using them for no reason other than i dont see myself going pro. At one time I was thinking about it, but just dont have the time to put in. Used for 4 years off and on, but and think they are a great tool to supplement in order to achieve your goals if used properly.

Excellent post. Every time someone posts a stupid, lazy-thinking, do-it-for-me question we should simply point them to this post.

or just not respond at all. Eventually, they will get the point.

I would love to see the word “yet” placed in the title.

Due to a few medical issues, it’s best for me to remain under 200#, with 190# being optimal. Eventually, I WILL be using to allow for as much hypertrophy at this weight as possible.

And I see myself, especially after I hit 35, using on a permanent (but not constant) basis.

For everyone that is serious about bodybuilding and performance, how come you don’t use steroids?

Honestly, I would love to do a few cycles. If not now, at least in a few years when the ol’ "T’ factory starts really shutting down.

At this point, I really haven’t put in the time to learn enough about them, and even if I did, I don’t have the slightest idea of how to access them.

In principle, I have no problem with them at all, but that’s me chalking things up to “personal responsibility”.

Tubby,

Brick, you are too kind. I don’t know how you do it.[/quote]

Haven’t you heard of good/bad cop, tactic works great. X comes in Bashes them on the head, Brick consoles them and shows them the light. Focus’s their concentration where normally they would get ADD reading a faq.

im all for the hgh to help with the loose skin when ive lost all my fat but illegal steroids is just a bad idea.

ive had steroids injected into an injury site to help with recovery by a doctor and i gotta tell you guys it fucking burns. my entire arm went dead and i hurt for a couple of days.

“Steroids” is a too generic term. Your doc injected a corticosteroid (cortisone)which acts like an-anti inflammatory drug. Corticosteroids like cortisone are different from a steroid like testosterone. You don’t get huge on corticosteroid (you just get a bloated face because of serious water retention)

If I knew a reliable source I would get them in a few years.

I’ve been lifting over 30 years and have never used but would be lying if I said I haven’t been tempted. I have a LOT of friends that have used and believe that most serious lifters have at least considered it.

The main reason I don’t use is because it just seems crazy to risk my health for the short term benefits. I do believe they can be used with a degree of safety but have a friend who has heart and prostate issues because of them. He’s 35 and has juiced since he was 17.

Granted, he was a heavy user but was a walking encyclopedia on steroid use. We trained in my garage until this past July when he became a guest of the Ok. Dept. of Corrections for selling juice. That in itself is reason enough for me to stay natural.
