and monopoly fuck off if your going to insult me, i appreciate help but not from someome who is going to be a jackass, I dont carry a “food calculator” i just eat eat enough so that i dont feel hungry or sick from not eating enough calories.
what im doing seems to work fine i have been getting stronger except for my squat it has stopped at 220 1x5 i was doing a stronglifts which is linear progression, but no one can go on forever adding 15 pounds to their squat every week i suspect i have burned out the program and have gotten out all i could. Im just wondering if its possible to get past 220 i dont see how on earth someone can squat 315 when 220 kills me i need to know what program they are doing.
You can do ANYTHING as a beginner and make progress. You have gotten good advice from multiple people in this thread and yet you keep asking the SAME question. Nobody is going to lay out a program for you rep by rep, day by day, week by week.
A “food calculator”? WTF? It’s not that hard bro. Ground beef comes in 1lb packs. Rice measures out in 1 cup increments. If you went to mcdonalds you had 3 double hamburgers a small fry and a coke.
This ALONE should tell you that your eating is FUCKED if you want to gain weight/get stronger.
Sounds like your fucked. I mean your clearly eating enough food in order to make gains and are on a good program but you cant get any stronger you have clearly reached your genetic potential. Only thing that is going to help you here on out is large amounts of steroid use.
Obviouolsy that was sarcasm but, just in case you couldnt tell I am telling you it is now.
As monopoly as already stated you have been giving any and all advice we can give you really and you choose not to follow it. I dont care what you say but YOUR NOT EATING ENOUGH FOOD. I am not saying you need to go to the extremes in the link posted but, you need to INCREASE your calories.
You literally wrote “i eat tons of whole grain rice whole grain tortillas chicken and vegetables fruits and nuts throughout the day.” Where is the BEEF, CHEESE, EGGS, MILK, POTATOES, PASTA or anything else that has been time tested and proven in 99% of anyone who has made amzing gains in human strength potential
" I eat enough to not feel sick"… That could be 1500 calories thats pathetic man. Either change your mentality and look on eating or your not going to make any gains in size or strength worth mentioning.
i appreciate everyone who is being constructive to me, i have gotten 5/3/1 like suggested here. But eatings tons of food is not practical for me i leave for military basic training in a month and a half and i dont want to be huuuge. I have to stay under a specific weight and my goals are for practical strength and stamina, Maybe i gave of the idea of wanting to body build i eat around 2400 cals a day. Size would be nice but im not looking to get huge its strength first then size for me. and im not trying to come off as a cocky know it all because i dont know it all im just saying based on my observations i have seen skinny kids and even girls squat 3 plates theres no way they are eating tons of calories and staying that small well correct me if im wrong, And again i appreciate the people being constructive i have gotten 5/3/1 and will read it when i have free time i work full time.

I have to stay under 120 pounds of lean body mass, and my goals are for practical strength and stamina. Maybe I gave of the idea of wanting to have enough muscle for conditioning and stuff to mean shit, but I eat around barely enough for a little girl a day. Being strong, and having some muscle would be nice, but I’m not looking to get huge its having mediocre amounts of strength for me. There, fixed it for you. You are weak, probably haven’t lifted for three whole months, and you are likely skinny fat as hell. Listen to what these people have to say or don’t even ask questions.
im listening to what they are saying im reading up 5/3/1 as suggested im having a hard time believing that i need all those calories i mean how can someone eat all that much in one day im afraid of becoming fat, 2400 cals yesterday 3000 today and i feel sick from eating so much,

Um. Going to ignore most of that. Here and there I get in around 5000 calories a day, and I’m pretty sure I’m not fat.
Regarding “eating so much”, you can eat more calorically dense foods. Cream is one option. Olive oil is another.
A hint: it’s generally easier to get more calories down in liquid form than solids.
You got good form on the squat down. You’re young. You could really make some progress, if you did the right things like eat more and follow a reputable program.
You’re afraid of becoming fat? You should be. You’re gonna put on some fat on the road to bigger, or stronger, or bigger and stronger.
You feel like shit eating 3000+ calories. Yeah no shit. It’s a shock to your system and you’re constantly going to have a full stomach and that’s gonna take time getting used to.
I hate when people claim joining the military is an excuse for not training properly.
Im in the Aus Army and am well aware of what’s required.
hungry4more is a PERFECT example of a gigantic mother who is killing it, and is a marine.
Eating a lot, 3000cals isn’t a lot, takes time to get used to. A fortnight ago I was water loading, first day getting 8l a day was fucked. Second day 9l was no drama, by day 3 was no drama getting 10l down. Persistence is key.

A few things:
Last time I checked, there are some big motherfuckers in the military. I’m pretty confident the military isn’t looking for a bunch of weak little bitches.
Practical strength? So being able to lift heavy ass weights isn’t going to be practical? False.
You gave the idea that you wanted to get stronger because the name of this thread is “I CANT GET ANY STRONGER!” Sorry we misinterpreted that. You obviously meant “I MAKE EXCUSES FOR MY INADEQUACIES!”
Show me a video of a skinny/small girl squatting 3 plates. Doesn’t exist. We’re not about to go for that kind of bullshit here.
You don’t have time to read 5/3/1 because you work full time? That’s about the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. I work 60 hour weeks as an exec at my company, and I read 500+ pages a week, while finding time to lift twice the weight you can put up. Give me a fucking break on the full time job crap. 5/3/1 is less than an hour of reading.
cant read 5/3/1 work full time 1 hour to commute to work and when i come home from work at 12 i workout eat and sleep because im back at it in the morning. I never said i wasnt going to read it i will on the weekend. And as far as eating i guess ill give it a try dont want to get hooked on pizza and ice cream again but ill do that or try GOMAD.
Lots of info going around here, so I’ll just chime in on some choice bits:
marvin1993 wrote:
the weights are scary they are pretty heavy now
I saw this in your first post and, really, it says a lot about your mindset with regard to lifting.
I have a hard time believing a human being can put 1,000 pounds on their back, squat down, and stand back up, but it happens due to time, practice, and dedication. Eating until you feel full, and then a little more, is somewhat easier, but works on the same principles.
Exactly what’s the weight limit? You will not get “OMFG so huge my shirts don’t fit anymore” in six weeks of eating big while training hard.
Your goals are contrary. You said you’re doing the couch to 5k running program. I’m not surprised your squats have stalled. That plan has you running 3 days a week. How is your training week setup - what days do you lift and what days do you run?
Where did you see anybody tell you to start eating pizza and ice cream? Even GOMAD would be a retarded idea for you, as that would just about double your daily calories in one shot.
People who do unnecessary extremes like that are the ones who come back in a few months saying “This bulking stuff is stupid and your advice was bullshit. I bulked and just got fat.” What’s wrong with adding 8 or 10 whole eggs throughout the day, as a start?
And on a related note, what exactly did you eat yesterday?

To be fair, it can happen. It’s just that, when it does, it’s a freaking world record-setting performance.

hahaha, thanks for that. awesome video. you’re right, it has happened. But I doubt OP has seen this video before.
OP pretty much acted like it was a common occurence, like he’s seeing it happen every time he walks into his local YMCA or something. As if 100 lb girls are just pumping out reps at 315 on a daily basis. That would be something to see.
i have been making progress up until last week i could not run one third of a mile now im running 3 miles i could squat 95 lbs 3x10 now im doing 225 1x4 i overhead press 100 lbs and im stalled on that. i want to do 5/3/1 but im wondering if its good for a begginer my bench sucks and its underdeveloped.
But so many people here are telling me to eat and eat never knew you had to eat a shit ton to get big because i been eating how im eating and i been loosing fat and getting stronger, Im 5’8 170 lbs not that skinny not skinny at all,
Sincerely,

Well shucks, Flippy, thanks. All I can do is try.

Um… random. But, uh, good for him.
Okay, great. So you’ve hit your running goal. Drop the running to once a week for maintenance and make a focused push to get your squat back on track. Ta-da.
It’s fine for a beginner but it’s meant to be followed for several months at a time, not just 4, 6, or 8 weeks and then you jump to a different plan. Go for it. It’ll be a good change of pace from the 5x5-ish plans you’ve been using.
That’s kinda how it works, man. Big comes from calories. There is no path to big except by them.
5’8" and 170 isn’t always skinny, obviously depending on muscle mass and fat levels. However, based on your videos, you’re more skinny than not-skinny. You don’t look muscular or even athletic yet. #HonestObjectiveTruth
