I Can't Cheat

Why don’t you try this: keep your macros the same, but increase your calories by 250. Weigh in two weeks. If you haven’t gained any weight, add 250 more. Repeat until you gain a pound. I will guarantee you you can repeat this process for several months before you actually put on a pound. You are undereating; metabolism chases intake. You aren’t comfortable with bumping up calories in big chunks, so this will provide some security and graduality you seem to really need.

why would i not want to put on a pound for several months??

i just increased my calorie intake saturday by 250 keeping ratio’s the same. generally thats enough for me to increase weight for 2-3 weeks

Are you here to learn? You seem to ask questions where you already think you know the answer and then you disagree with folks who tell you something different.

Just do what you want to do, you will anyways.

is that a serious comment?

he said to increase my calories by 250 each week until i gain a pound and that it will be months before i gain a pound. in response i said that when i add 250 calories i do gain weight right away (most of the time) and that lasts for 2-3 weeks.

then he said i’m undereating. i asked why he thought that since he doesnt know how much i eat and i just added calories this week.

i have no idea where u are getting anything bad from either of those responses

If you are 17, just eat and lift man. Put some gravy on your cereal. Seriously!

You have a lot of growing to do and right now you have a big fucking frame with only 155 pounds on it.

I tend to think that in cases such as this, “I put on fat easily” translates to “I train like a pussy bitch.” Just something to think about.

Haha CJK, that might well be.

I’m guessing he just has no idea whatsoever though. He was probably a fat kid (still is a kid) and learned he could lose weight. Now he’s overly scared to put on fat cuz he was teased a lot 'n shit.

OP, I’ll promise you, if you train hard and eat big, you’ll gain a hell of a lot of muscle. At 6’ 154 you’re way too small. Shut up, train hard, and eat big. You can say “you guys don’t know what I eat!!!” all you’d like, but at 6’ 154lbs, we know, hell, the world knows mate. You’ve been eating small for a long time now. Maybe you were losing fat, that’s fine, now it’s time to turn the corner. You’re still a kid, eat big, get over the bit of fat loss you’ll have and enjoy watching yourself grow.

I know how much you are eating, because you weigh 154 pounds and are 6 feet tall. Unless your location is Dachau, Germany in the early 1940’s you have no excuse weighing that much at that height. I was just showing you an easy, non-anxious way to reset your metabolism. But if you want to keep stuffing rolls of quarters in your pockets to keep your feet on the ground when you walk outside on a windy day, be my guest.[/quote]

lol im listening to your advice. you said to add 250 calories every week until i gain a pound right? thats what i’m doing…i just added 250 calories on saturday and like i said thats generally enough to make me add weight so we’ll see what happens this coming saturday. i actually gain weight very easily, i just came off a cut from 170, 16.5% bf (lol i know i’m gonna hear more about that one…)

as i said i do push myself in the gym, do HIIT, and eat a completely clean diet. i can post what i do if u want but i dont know if thats necessary.

you guys are harsh lol

actually i was never really teased about being fat back when i was. i just dont think it looks good to get over 15%bf. i dont see how that is different than most people’s mentality. i mean i train for aesthetics mainly so i want to look good and i do my best to gain muscle with little fat. i was progressing pretty well until about February where i, for whatever reason, had 10 horrible weeks where no matter what i did things got worse. since then things have been slowly progressing again

i appreciate the advice/motivation. as redundant as it sounds i really do eat a pretty large amount (3000 calories now although i was eating about 3500 last bulk). im 154 because i came off a cut (which is a seperate topic) that i did when i got to about 17% bf. like i said above i’d be farther along if it wasnt for those 10 weeks.

im not ignoring anyones advice here. i agree with it and i do need to eat enough to gain roughly a pound a week which i am doing and will make sure i continue to do.

Whew! That’s good. I thought for a second that you were actually making great progress but dared to worry about eating enough instead of “how clean” you are eating. We just couldn’t have you eat an “unclean” meal…because that is most important.

“You see that guy there, Bob…he eats cleaner than anyone in the entire gym! Sure, he may also be the smallest and weakest…but he’s the CLEANEST!!! See that huge fucker over there who just ate a pound of beef with cheese…well, he may be making great progress…and he may be the strongest bastard here…but CHEESE!?”

i was just explaining that i do eat a lot of healthy, good quality food.
nothing wrong with cheese IMO lol, even though i personally dont really eat it besides cottage cheese

damn i feel like this every time i eat a meal outside of my diet:

No one cares what you eat a lot of if it isn’t making you grow bigger and stronger. That is what this site is about, not who can eat the cleanest.

ok well then disregard the clean part and just add in “consisting of 3000”. i dont know why that particular point had to be brought up ok. either way as i said i agree i need to eat enough to gain weight (obviously) and i expect this weeks addition of calories to be good. i gained a pound 2 weeks ago with less calories but this last week at the beach i guess i was more active than i thought and lost a pound but it was mainly fat anyway.

I mentioned this in another thread a bit ago. If you cannot deviate from your ‘clean’ diet and pound some cookies once in a while without feeling ‘guilty’, then you have a major psychological problem.

Fat housewifes who sit at home and cry watching Oprah feel guilty about eating food. If you’re training seriously, everything you eat goes toward muscle.

All this bullshit about your ‘social life’ is fucking ridiculous. You agonize about cheating on your squeaky-fuck-clean diet, then capitulate to the nonsensical idea that you have to eat shit whenever you go out with your friends? You have issues. Please see a licensed medical professional.
