I Can't Cheat

Right now i’m following the carb cycling codex by christian thibaudeau so it changes
low days: around 45p/25c/30f
med days: 40p/35c/25f
high carb: 38p/42c/20f

I restrict myself to one cheat meal per week… but for me a cheat meal is simply a meal that was not planned and thus may not exactly fit the exact figures for that specified meal… but still keeps in theme with the current diet/training/goals.

e.g. I am currently dropping bodyfat and the other day I was invited out for a chinese meal with some friends… Instead of pancakes/duck/cucumber/spring onion/hoi sin sauce… I created some kind of cucumber/duck/spring onion small salad thing via the buffet =]
yea generally if i have one i try to choose the best option but even then i dont like to cheat

EDIT: I was tired and basically asked a dumbass question here

You really don’t need to be carb cycling. Man, eat for the fences and assess your situation in a few weeks. At that time change things according to what you see in the mirror and how you feel.

STOP WEIGHING YOURSELF.

Well to answer you first; just like ‘analog_kid’, I usually have my cheat meal when it’s been a really long, shitty day.

Pizza, or Chili Dogs usually do well.

Second, don’t we technically all have an eating disorder to an extent?

I mean I measure my shakes?..

I’ve been down the road of counting calories, making my macronutrient ratios, even keeping perfect track of my anti-oxidant intake. I have went 2 months straight eating homemade protein shakes 4 times a day, with one meal for dinner (long, long time ago).

Bottom line, especially at your age, you should be enjoying life; let your inhibitions go for that moment to let your parents know you’re still ‘normal’ and eat with them.

How often do u have a cheat meal if at all? ive found it much harder to bring myself to cheat than to stay on my diet. i guess that could be considered a good thing but still, socially it can get in the way.

For example the last cheat meal i had was in april i had a whole wheat subway sandwhich fitting exactly in my calorie range because there was no other option and that was it.

This week im at the beach with my family and told my dad we should go out to eat tuesday (we were gonna go sometime this week and tuesday was a high carb day) but when that day came i just ate before we left and couldnt bring myself to have anything. i used to be fat and i gain fat really easily so i just dont want to add to any fat gain when bulking.

anyone else have that?
Sounds like you’re well on your way to a full blown eating disorder. 6 foot at 155, and you’re worried about a subway on whole wheat?

Wow…

This thread is retarded…and some of these posters might be as well.

When you see some kid who weighs 155lbs at 6 feet tall, you don’t act like that has nothing to do with the advice you give.

Why the fuck would someone that small be this worried about what they eat?

I appreciate all the replies guys.

I dont have an eating disorder (lol like i would think i have one anyway :p) but i see where ur coming from. im definitely thin at 155 but i know what im working with. its not like i just got thin and am overly paranoid that i gain fat. i measure my bodyfat and unfortunately i really do gain fat unusually quickly for a 17y/o

like i said its really mental i just figure “if i can eat before i go why cheat?” but at the same time 1 cheat meal a week is still like 97-98% compliance and i know plenty of people who follow that and stay under 10%, I just cant stand cutting and want to spend more time bulking so its hard for me to do something i know will lead to more fat gain. things like a burger/steak im definitely more ok with than pasta or something like a dessert
wait… wait a minute…

you are like 16 or something and you were considering the V-Diet.

I am not sure your sense of time and putting in time is the same for some folks.

I also think you shouldn’t worry about too much fat gain if you are staying active and eating good foods. You should be taking advantage of your youth to grow some size and muscle.

Because he was formerly fat and has developed a complex over it.

For all those giving serious responses, thanks

For those who just say “ur 16 u dont need to worry about getting fat, just eat a lot, etc…” i’m sorry but clearly u dont understand the situation. do u think i would be paranoid over gaining fat if i didnt have anything to base it off of?

As i said i was fat. i’ve bulked a few times, my longest bulk was from last feb. to last august with a month break/decrease in muscle because of surgery. in that time i ate completely clean foods, did HIIT 3x a week, did good workouts and even with that i started at about 11% and ended at 17%.

I gained 18.5lb. of LBM but 12.5lb. of fat with it. so for those who say just eat a lot thats why i dont, because i’m not the typical teenager who can just eat a lot and not gain fat.

btw i got invited to 6 flags on tuesday and i dont want this to screw with my social life so it looks like i’ll be having at least 1-2 cheat meals that day. unfortunately all they have there is crap.

I’ve saw this thread when it first started and didn’t want to respond, because if anyone follows this guy’s posts, they’re all over the place.

You might have an eating disorder, but I swear you have some kind of mental disorder (schizophrenia) or something.

All over the place?

seriously though, for u guys telling me i have some disorder (who knows i might) what do u suggest then? why just say i have some problem…

not to be a dick, i’m just saying clearly i do gain fat very easily which is whats so annoying

You. Must. Gain. Fat. With. The. Muscle. To. Actually. Get. Muscle. At. Your. Height/Weight. Combination.

And if that wasn’t enough periods, PERIOD.

You gain fat quick? Good. Great. Use that to help with your strength at the iron, and gurd your loins at the fork and knife. Once you bulk, stay there for about six months, decrease carbs then, then continue getting bigger.

You don’t get to get all show with the bulk at your bodytype, kid. Sorry. You are going to have to put on some fat.

Am I saying go all-out, eat nothing but crap? No. Know why you thought that? You have a borderline eating disorder. Cheat like 10% of the time. If you’re eating 6-7 high-protein meals a day, you’re getting what, 4 or 5 cheat meals? Use them.

Quit carb-cycling. You’re not huge leaning out. You’re underweight and unused to the heavy eating which is necessary not only for building muscle, but maintaining it.

Take me for example: I’m 5’ 8", but only 165lbs after various injuries and life issues. I was 190lbs not very long ago. Crash diet, out of my hands. I’d been maintaining bodyweight/fat for so long, I’d lost the ability to handle a higher calorie intake, and I’m actually a little messed up 'bout fat gain. Guess what?

I’m getting over it.

You’ll have to, too. Or you won’t make any progress, and you’ll get a full-blown eating disorder.

Or, in fewer words . . .

“Food, motherfucker, do you eat it?”

Do you really think a bunch of guys/girls on an internet forum is a more appropriate source info than a trained professional that can properly asses your situation??

What ever happened to getting jacked?

There’s nothing that gets me motivated more than a good looking woman that says, “Just eat and get big.”

know why i thought what?

anyway i’ve said in the past when cutting once i start a bulk im gonna allow 2 cheat meals a week (still 95% compliance) but when that time comes i just cant bring myself to do it. i wont argue about the eating disorder, i think i probably am borderline.

i think the problem i have is that i know im gonna gain fat while bulking, so i assume that a cheat meal is going to make it much worse so i dont want to have one, when in reality having a cheeseburger for one of my 42 meals instead of chicken and oatmeal probably wont too much to me. i guess i just gotta force myself to do it when going out with friends so i dont kill my social life

about bulking in general i know i have to gain some fat and thats inevitable, i would just like to do the best i can to bulk longer by staying lean. i hate cutting.

also with losing my capacity to eat alot…thats definitely not true lol. i can eat like a horse, u should have seen me on christmas  that was my last cheat day and i took full advantage haha.

i just started this wondering if anyone else has trouble cheating, i’m not looking for an assessment of the situation or anything.

Fella… you don’t know anything about long term training yet.

Good for you for keeping nutrition in mind, but seriously, take a step back.

Eat good food, eat a lot of good food. Lift heavy weights.

there you go…

I cheat on Saturday. I don’t know if what I do is called cheating. Example: If at meal 3 I’m eating 8 oz of ground turkey breast I allow myself to eat 12oz or the whole fucking package. If I’m near a sushi bar and its meal time I eat 2-3 rolls and a midgets weight in sashimi. I find it better than eating junk. My two pennies

Why don’t you try this: keep your macros the same, but increase your calories by 250. Weigh in two weeks. If you haven’t gained any weight, add 250 more. Repeat until you gain a pound. I will guarantee you you can repeat this process for several months before you actually put on a pound. You are undereating; metabolism chases intake. You aren’t comfortable with bumping up calories in big chunks, so this will provide some security and graduality you seem to really need.
why would i not want to put on a pound for several months??

i just increased my calorie intake saturday by 250 keeping ratio’s the same. generally thats enough for me to increase weight for 2-3 weeks

Are you here to learn? You seem to ask questions where you already think you know the answer and then you disagree with folks who tell you something different.

Just do what you want to do, you will anyways.
