Hard to fathom I got my first weight set over 40 years ago. I was 13 and nervous about going to high school. I’m only 5’7" and was pretty skinny so I thought maybe if I could get some muscles, I’d be less likely to get bullied…lol. And it kinda worked! I’ve been on and off through the years but have always been able to maintain that solid foundation I developed my first 2 years of training. But when I hit my late 30’s, I started to become pretty consistent.
Anyway, cut to turning 55 this year and I’m still pretty enthusiastic about training. I’m not as big or strong as I was 10 or 12 years ago but I still look forward to my workouts and getting ready for tank top weather!
No matter what age you are, just keep the training and good eating consistent and it’ll pay off! At the time of this pic, I’m around 170 lbs at about maybe 13% BF.
Hi 1more. I’ve been at this 45 years and don’t have much to show for it. Work hard, eat lots of good food, lots of sleep, I don’t have much.
Well all I can think of is that you have yet to stumble upon the right combination of training style and nutrition best suited to bring about optimum progress. Some people think they work hard in the gym and really don’t while others do too much and don’t recover properly. There are so many factors involved with no simple answer as to why some progress and others don’t.
Consider how you look, feel and behave compared to other people of a similar age (60+ I guess). And how you have been in comparison over the last 20 years.
I received my first weight set at 14. That was 45 years ago. Skinny, bullied, scared to go to school, that was me. I have strength trained in a variety of ways since. It has been worth the time. Congratulations on your journey.
Well, you may have more than you believe. Being stronger than the average person, medically, is indispensable.
Thanks Friedrich. Agreed more than worth the time and effort.
Cheers!
You’re still looking insane brother!
Nice to see you kicking around still 1MR!
How are you training these days?
Hi there 1morerep. I used to post the same time as you began on TN (remember the spoon pic mess). Godspeed brother
Finally someone from the “old days”! I’m doing the best that I can. A lot more aches and pains though that’s for sure…lol. Hope all is well.
Spoon pics! Wow, I haven’t thought about that in ages. I was always getting into it with someone about something on here…lol.
Cheers!
Good to see some fellow geezers. 45 years doing it now myself (age 12/13) and now age 57… Keep going guys!
