I’ve seen guys throw hands better when they were drunk than sober, my little brother for instance (all 135 brad pitt-esque pounds of him) turns out to be a hell of a fighter when he’s sloshed, he does ok sober too, but watch that right hook when he’s hammered! he gave me whiplash once (I’m proud of the kid, what can I say?).

Have you thought about getting a dog? I don’t know if you and your flatmates are in a position to keep one, but it would deter strangers from trying to force their way inside. A large dog won’t care about “who they are”. It would probably be more concerned with how good they taste :slight_smile: Just a thought…

Well a set of dogs (bull mastiff, rottyweiller, german shephard etc… ) isn’t a bad idea, especially if you live in the sort of place it sounds like you do…does this sort of thing happen often in your area?

na i live in the city centre, probably the safest place you could live in Glasgow.

cant keep dogs or any animals as we live in a flat where there not allowed.

I am obviously late to the topic but, you hear a scuffle going on in your house and you don’t pick up anything? Looking around my living room right now there are at least 4 blunt objects I could pick up and tear some one a new one if the situation called for it.

Calling the police was smart but i can’t say I would have done the same thing AFTER my room mate got punched in the face. I would have went into attack mode. 3 on four aren’t the greatest odds but i’ll take it.

update on the situation…

police have reviewed all the cctv they have got there hands on at the minute. they have told us that the “thugs” came out of the fire exit of the bar below us and back into the fire exit.

when they went in to question the owners, there was a guy in the bar “doing work” that matched one of the descriptions, and the police said he obviously shit himself when they walked in.

they have found out that the bar is owned by the same guy that owns a dodgy plumbing company in another part of glasgow. they dont currently have a licence and told the police that they planned to open up next week. we told the police that they have been open for the past few weeks, they say there going to look into it.

after the police left today. one of my flat mates noticed 2 skinhead guys sitting in a done up MG outside our flat. he told us and we watched them from one of the windows… they saw us and sped of. he reckons the driver may have been one of the “thugs”. reported this and the reg number to the police, but havn’t heard back yet.

its all getting a bit dodgy and scary. we are planning to have a big party on sunday, for burns night. dont know if that is still going ahead… :S

we have also determined that it is the flat above us that was responsible for throwing bottles and ciggerete butts out the window. we confronted them and they have denied all knowledge, stateing they werent there even know they invited us to the party they were having. :S
does anybody know if we could have a civil suit against them for being the atogonists?

bad luck man.

id get a bat if i were you. it would be considered “reasonable force” if they come back.

also i wouldn’t walk alone at night. only in groups. party sounds like a bad idea. you wouldn’t want an invasion would you?

in my honest opinion you did the right thing, even if it was out of cowardice, as you say. sounds like you were out of your league and these guys meant business.

i got set upon up by three guys once, and my two mates just stood there and watched. totally bottled it. now that’s shitty. luckily they were drunk as fuck and hit like girls, so i escaped with a bloody nose. in your situation you could have got seriously fucked up. i mean, they had the menace to come into your flat and glass someone over a misunderstanding. sound like nasty fuckers. my arse would have dropped out at the shock of the situation.

there nearly 100% sure it involves the guys downstairs. and is linked to gang/drug crime. they think the bar is being used as a front to sell cocaine and herion. this shit is scaring me now.
