Hyrox and back again

Hi everyone,
Kicking back into training after a period of taking it relatively easy. I’ve signed up on a whim for a Hyrox at the end of March, partially so I could get a decent tinder photo! The goal is to increase conditioning alongside increasing strength.

To kick things off, I’m running the Tactical Barbell Operator training program – inspired by @MythicalStrength.

Monday:
Safety bar squats: ~100 kg × 3 × 5
Overhead press: 52.5 kg × 3 × 5
Deadlift: 100 kg (2 × 20 kg plates) × 20 reps
Finished with curls

Tuesday:
5K run in ~30 minutes

Wednesday:
5K run in ~27 minutes

Thursday (back at the gym): Week 1, Day 2 of Operator
Safety bar squats: 102.5 kg × 3 × 5, superset with:
Overhead press: 55 kg × 3 × 5, superset with:
Weighted chin-ups: 30 kg × 3 × 3
Deadlift: 100 kg (15 kg plate) × 20 reps – lower back pretty taxed afterward
Finished with pump work for arms.

That’s all for now. At the moment weight is roughly 86kg. Ive a bit of leaning up to do before comp, but its never an issue once I start to kick up the conditioning. Looking forward to engaging with everyone on here.

Idk if you know this, but mythical strength is super active on these forums, but goes by the handle @T3hPwnisher

Is Hyrox the new Crossfit or are they both still going strong? Regardless, looking forward to the log and the Hyrox results!

I guess it appears to be. I mean it honestly just seems like a very well marketed version of circuit training! In any case, I’ll try anything once!

It will be interesting to see whether Hyrox will have half the following Crossfit had/has, or whether it will be a short lived affair!
