We actually have 2 typhoons going by…but the one on the left is the one going over Taiwan directly.
I also think it’s every news station’s prerogative to send the smallest female reporter out into the storm in the hopes that she will fall down. You know they want that to happen.
Here in New Hampshire, barely winds of 40 mph, yet Manchsster NH ABC affiliate has to be LIVE covering… NOTHING, every single time they talk to someone in the state, zero damage zero injuries, ok, its raining and windy, put on the friggin little league worldseries, i get it, Media Overkill.
Things were quiet all morning, pretty calm with some gusts. I got most of the leaves out of the pool and then we lost power for 3 hours after noon. Managed to rake up most of the branches and leaves off the property. Me and my son took a ride around the 'hood and down by the water, widespread damage there with big trees down and of course the overhead wires. Saw a few big trees into houses too. Some roads were not passable. The bay has white caps on it and was over the bulkheads in places. I saw no utility trucks at all in my travels. Some private tree service trucks were out though, gonna be a big payday for those guys.

I will still BBQ tonight though.
The wind just picked up here quite a bit, and so did the rain. But the lights are back on at least. May as well go out and vacuum the pool. Going to have steaks on the grill and more than a few beers.

IMPORTANT RETWEET FROM TWITTER:
Hurricane Irene (@Hurricane_Irene): I am getting stronger as we speak. Just did chest and triceps. Protein shake. Hoping to get to a category 4 by early tomorrow morning.
Lol! Maybe not funny yet though? A cat 4 would look like armageddon compared to what’s going on now.

Irene was a paper tiger…no flood, no power loss no nothing…at least for me.
She was no paper tiger. In New Jersey at least, she’s had every bit of her teeth. Flooding here is reaching unprecedented levels, power was off for about 15 hours, trees falling, downed powerlines… it has brought nothing but misery.
