Anyone see that reporter in Ocean City MD getting bombarded with sea foam? I’m sure it’ll go viral.
Wife and I sitting it out here in Jersey… waiting for my neighbor’s MASSIVE poplar tree (the one we tried time and again to have him remove) to come crashing through our roof any minute now.
Whatever. Nature is awesome.
Got Geraldo on in the background, apparently there are 8 deaths already. Take heed T-Nation bros and stay safe. Be overly cautious.
All of the ocean beaches were closed on Friday at 3 PM. Mandatory evacuation in certain areas, some are big communities too. I drove down by The Great South Bay before, lots of businesses boarded up. It was a few hours before high tide, but the water wasn’t up far at all. I was amazed at how many boats are still in the water. Like nothing is going to happen. All of my outside furniture is either away or lashed down, plants too, hate to lose some I have in pots. 11:09 PM here and raining, gusty winds. My son just got in, he already saw a downed tree in the road. I just hope I can report back here withing the next few days.

Beachguy where are you in NY? We are supposed to get 70-90 kph winds and a lot of rain, but right now it’s just a hot summer night, no sign of any weather.
Sitting it out. Only getting the tail end of it. 35-40mph winds not much damage here. Some power outages not much. Family in NYC is freaking out. Boarding up windows. I lived in NYC for 23yrs and I remember Huricans but not reaction like this. I hear they closed the subway for the first time in NYC history.
Stay safe guys.

Same here - I’m in Fairfax, VA and my power is still on (knock on wood! LOL). It’s raining pretty hard and I’ve seen some high gusts of wind but it really doesn’t seem that bad yet. Take care and stay safe, everyone.
lost power about an hour ago. electric company says they aren’t fixing lines tonight.
just fired up my generator for the first time. feels great to have power and internet.

thanx. I just hope it helps you and others.
I mentioned taking the pressure off because it’s easy to get frustrated and pissed off when you don’t have control of the situation. saw more than a few fights happen, usually between members of the same family.
some people, kids and adults, will be scared of even small t-storms and winds that shake trees for mths after the hurricane.
after the storm there will be tree limbs that will be hung up and will fall later. keep an eye out.
after things get back to normal look over the trees left standing around your house. had one snap and fall on my powerline 10 mths after the storm. it snapped about 10’ off the ground and you could see that it was rotting from the inside from damage it suffered.
if it really tears up your neighborhood, trees are down, signs missing, fences blown away, houses destroyed, you may get lost. I’m not kidding. most people navigate their way around by landmarks. after Hugo a lot of big oaks were blown over because of shallow roots, billboards were gone, a 100 ft repeater tower was blown over. these were landmarks around my area.
I’m not trying to scare anyone. just letting you know what MIGHT happen. it’s better to be prepared for the worst and have it just slide by than ignore it and be in deep shit.
Houses destroyed?? its a hurricane, not a tornado, lol. I love how people over exxagerate things.
Hurricanes spin tornadoes off like it’s nobody’s business. It’s like a gang of bad weather with a bad ass boss sending his soldiers to wreak havoc on a region he just owned decisively.
Plus, hurricanes alone do destroy houses. They rip roofs clean off, send debri flying through walls and windows, flood the entire bottom floor… you saw pictures of Katrina (granted an atypical experience) Ike, Hugo and others right? Insurance adjusters aren’t being funny when they declare billions of dollars in property damamge.

So far, so good. We’re bout to get smoked round 8’O clock. We’ve had some damage & deaths already though. One being a 11yr old from a falling tree. Not something to take lightly at all.
Jesus. Why the fuck was he outside? Or did it come through the house, did the report say?
If you haven’t been hit yet treat a hurricane like a tornado and get to a room, preferrably a closet in the middle of the bottom floor or would it be first floor? We don’t have basements like you yanks. I think a basement might be bad due to flooding? Just don’t be on a top floor, it’s not as sturdy.
It’s best if the room doesn’t have an outside wall and make sure there are no windows. Shut the door and sit tight. The wind will pass in a few hours then you can worry about the floods.
I’m starting to change my mind about RV not being a troll.

with hurricanes come rain and flooding, no? How can that not cause damage?
We already have leaks and the storm hasn’t even come full force. Granted this is 50+ year old crappy military housing, but still.
It’s just RogueVampire he’s either “very special” or a troll.
Please keep us all informed on what’s going on.

Awww, thanks. We’re fine. Power went down about 745pm…The storm got the nastiest between 10pm-1am…so it was kinda scary sitting in the dark, listening and waiting for it to be over. Power came back on about 645am…yay coffee!!! ![]()
I see blue sky and the sun is starting to come out like nothing ever happened.
I made it to NYC just in time for the storms! Things apparently are kinda bad here. I’m boarded up with my sis, wife, her boyfriend and his two (evacuated) grandmas in a tiny apartment, fun times!

I’m on Long Island, not far from the barrier beaches. Sunday 9:30 AM here, some big winds during the night, not as much rain as we expected. Having gusts now around 40-50 mph, small tree branches down and lots of leaves on the ground. Spent a bit of time taking leaves out of my pool. I think the worst will be over by noon. The lights flash now and then, but no power loss.
My gym is closed, bummer… I’ll have to call them later to see if they’re open.

LOL!
just woke up from an uninterrupted sleep. powers still on, basements not flooded, car still exists…
cool hurricane, bro
Weird but we’re having a typhoon pass by here as well. I get the day off work tomorrow.
