Correct. Tampa here. Milton will likely weaken to a 3 before landfall. Praying it does because we have no place to go. I rented one of the last places available and they cancelled.

Oof. I also read something that said Tampa has largely been able to avoid direct hits from hurricanes for almost a century- have you had to go through this before in recent memory?

What are you doing to prepare?

That’s correct on the time line. I’ve brought everything outside in and put everything of value up high. I also removed the lithium battery from my golf cart as several electrical vehicle fires burnt down homes from the submerged batteries. Other than that I’m heading up the road to my mother in laws which is only a mile away but not on the direct water like I am.

Liberals never miss an opportunity to show what brain rotted bottom feeding scum they are. And of course… ZERO self-awareness and cringey self-loathing

Bless your heart.

In related news of seizing on a disaster to play politics:

Turning down opportunities to coordinate aid and help from the POTUS/VPOTUS, because they are the opposing political party is pretty shitty. When lives are on the line, put politics aside FFS!

That’s from The Onion. Please, say it is.

Carry on, smooth brain

DeSantis is uber competent. Imo, he is, correctly, ignoring efforts to “help” that will only impede the effective measures that Florida can implement on it’s own. “Coordinate” LMAO, yeah, right.

Because Federal gov’t agencies do such a great job…

Read the whole story, instead of flexing the false libtard outrage -“DeSantis also sent Florida resources to North Carolina, including members of the Florida national guard and officials from several state agencies.” Does that sound like Florida needs incompetent federal politicians and operatives posturing for views and interfering with people actually providing help? Idiot.

I wonder if that applies to my brother, a quadriplegic veteran.

Dems know their smooth brained suck ups won’t understand this or bother to look deeper

During natural disaster relief “as it’s supposed to” is the target. An impossible goal depending on how “supposed to” is defined. Natural disasters, like war, mean starvation, disease, suffering, and death.

Understood. I wasn’t the person who introduced phrase to this thread. Someone defending FEMA did. I merely repeated it so he could show us what he was talking about.

Only if he has plural pronouns.

The state and local officials in areas affected have widely praised FEMAs response and efforts. They have a better grasp of the larger picture, and how FEMA is helping (or failing) than a random person viewing a few people in TikTok videos using this disaster to campaign against a POTUS nominee.

Did you just post that unironically…? Or just wantonly dismissing the shit ton of people on the ground with different opinions ? Those same officials are Democrats… they’d never play politics, of course

You sure about that? Nevermind, facts don’t matter to you.

And fuck politics when talking about disasters of this scale. It’s fellow Americans who need help and and support. Leave politics out of it.

Thought so… I was in New Orleans after Katrina. Saw how the Bush admin manipulated the media, too. It was unreal. Impossible to describe really. Oh well… smooth brains gonna smooth brain

Okay dude. If it makes you feel better to believe that the government is doing a great job caring for its own citizens, then super. Believe what you want. :+1:

Perfect job? No. That’s impossible.

Terrible job? So far, big picture reports don’t indicate that.

From what we know now, the response looks to be on the fat part of the bell curve. And spreading false rumors and shitting on officials busting their ass to help while rescue/recovery is ongoing is detrimental.
